The Most Iconic Ralph Lauren Wedding Dresses Worn by Celebrities
When you think of the Ralph Lauren fashion house, there's a good chance you associate it with crisp oxfords, sleek ties, or tailored sportswear—you might even envision the brand's iconic polo player logo. Since its creation in 1967, the Ralph Lauren name has become synonymous with classic, preppy Americana style. And while the eponymous brand of NYC-born designer Ralph Lauren began exclusively selling menswear, it has since ventured into even more categories, including women's apparel, home, accessories and fragrances. And for a few lucky brides, Lauren has even designed wedding attire.
That said, Ralph Lauren wedding dresses can be hard to come by. The fashion house doesn't have a dedicated wedding dress line, and Lauren himself has only designed a few custom looks in its history. The gowns he has created, though, are nothing short of iconic, and they showcase Lauren's affinity for intricate lace, exquisite beadwork, and statement headpieces. Here, we look back on our very favorite Ralph Lauren wedding dresses worn by celebrities. From Lily Collins to Prianka Chopra, and most recently, Naomi Biden, relive the brand's most memorable and ethereal bridal looks.
Naomi Biden's Wedding Dress
Few couples have had the distinct honor of getting married at the White House. In fact, only 19 documented weddings and receptions have taken place on the presidential grounds over the years—and President Joe Biden's eldest granddaughter, Naomi Biden, was the most recent bride to swap vows at the prestigious venue. (Prior to Naomi's big day, the most wedding recent White House wedding was the 2013 marriage between President Obama's chief photographer, Peter Souza, and Patti Lease. Five years earlier, President Bush hosted nearly 600 guests at the White House for his daughter Jenna Bush's second reception in 2008.)
On November 19, 2022, the 28-year-old Columbia Law graduate wed Peter Neal, an associate at the Georgetown Law Center on National Security, on the South Lawn. As details about the private nuptials began to trickle out, people were immediately captivated by Naomi Biden's Ralph Lauren wedding dress. The bride's choice to wear a gown from the esteemed designer wasn't exactly a surprise, considering she wore a white Ralph Lauren ensemble for President Biden's inauguration day in 2021. She was also spotted at the brand's fall 2022 fashion show in New York City with her sister, Finnegan.
Naomi Biden's wedding dress, which appeared to pull inspiration from Grace Kelly's gown, encapsulated the essence of Ralph Lauren bridalwear. The custom long-sleeve design was made of ornate Chantilly lace, which was adorned with hand-placed organza petals along the bodice and the skirt. She paired the dress with a cathedral-length silk organza veil, which had embroidered Chantilly lace detailing. According to the bride's stylist, Bailey Moon, she accessorized her elegant look with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
Lily Collins' Wedding Dress
Lily Collins' September 2021 wedding to director Charlie McDowell was a real-life fairytale—and her wedding dress looked like something out of a storybook. The actress worked directly with Ralph Lauren to create a one-of-a-kind lace gown that was nothing short of magical. She wore a fitted long-sleeve design with an elegant high neck and a slightly flared skirt, which she accessorized with an ornate lace hooded cape.
In the days following her Colorado nuptials, she took to Instagram to reflect on the design experience. "Thank you @ralphlauren for working so closely with me to dream up this magical dress," she wrote. "It's my ultimate dream combination of Western Americana and British Victorian. Carefully handcrafted over nearly 200 hours, every detail was perfect—from the Calais-Caudry lace to the Swarovski-beaded micro flowers and silk organza petals. It's the most beautiful, memorable gown I will ever wear and I couldn't have imagined it any other way…"
Priyanka Chopra's Wedding Dress
One thing is certain: We'll never forget Priyanka Chopra's Ralph Lauren wedding dress. The actress, who married singer Nick Jonas in 2018, wore quite a few memorable wedding looks for her events, which included both Indian and Christian ceremonies. For the latter, which took place on December 1, she stunned in a glamorous custom Ralph Lauren wedding dress.
In a blog on the brand's website, the team shared a behind-the-scenes look at how the stunning creation was brought to life. Lauren began sketching designs months before the wedding, and ultimately the two landed on a sequin-embellished strapless dress paired with a sheer, hand-embroidered coat. The bride requested that eight phrases were stitched into the gown, including the wedding date, her groom's full name, and a Hindu phrase. A piece of lace from Jonas' mother's gown was also sewn into the dress.
Fifteen artisans from India contributed to the intricate design, which included 2,000 pearlescent sequins, 5,600 seed beads, and 11,632 Swarovski crystals. Priyanka's coat was closed down the front with 135 satin-covered buttons and featured a scalloped high-cut neck and long sleeves. The strapless dress worn underneath was embellished with more than 2 million pearlescent sequins. Just as spectacular was her veil: a 75-foot tulle headpiece, which had to be carried by six bridesmaids.
Jennifer Lopez's Wedding Dresses
Jennifer Lopez has worn quite a few wedding dresses over the years, both in movies and in real life. But most recently, she wore three custom Ralph Lauren looks to marry Ben Affleck. While the A-list duo first tied the knot during a secret Vegas wedding in July 2022, they swapped vows again in front of family in Georgia just one month later. In her "On the JLo" newsletter, Lopez called her Ralph Lauren wedding looks "dreamy"—and we'd have to agree.
First, she wore a turtleneck gown that was fitted through the bodice and led into a voluminous ruffled skirt and feathered sleeves. Vogue reported that more than 1,000 handkerchiefs and 500 meters of fabric were used to bring the unique look to life. Next, she changed into a chic column gown that had strings of pearls and Swarovski crystal embellishments draped across her neck and the open back. Per People, the dress was created in 700 hours by 30 artists. Finally, the bride closed out the night in a fitted mermaid gown with a keyhole neckline decorated with Swarovski crystals on the front and back. She also paired this Ralph Lauren wedding dress with a sheer hood, reminiscent of Lily Collins' look.
Kate Bock's Wedding Dress
The Great Gatsby served as the inspiration for model Kate Bock and NBA star Kevin Love's June 2022 wedding. The couple selected the New York Public Library as the venue for their old-school NYC nuptials. And when it came to the fashion, Bock knew right away that she'd want her longtime friend Ralph Lauren to scheme up her gown. "I was inspired by Grace Kelly's wedding dress, so we used that as a jumping off point for a modern-day, beaded lace gown that was totally my style," she told Vogue.
The gown was, indeed, a masterpiece. It reportedly had over two million hand-sewn beads adorning the long sleeves, the bodice, and the skirt and its train. Notably, like other custom Ralph Lauren wedding dresses, it had an elegant high neckline and a keyhole open back. The couple's wedding planner, Marcy Blum, later called it "the world's heaviest dress."
Lauren Bush Lauren's Wedding Dress
It may come as no surprise that Ralph Lauren's daughter-in-law was the lucky wearer of one of his custom wedding dresses. Lauren Bush, the CEO and co-founder of the fashion brand FEED Projects, married Ralph Lauren's son David Lauren at a Colorado ranch on September 4, 2011—and according to Vogue, Bush and her soon-to-be father-in-law began discussing wedding dress designs over family dinners and holiday celebrations. The final silhouette evoked a modern Victorian feel with a regal high neck, puffed sleeves, and an open back.
According to the publication, the long-sleeve gown had many layers of intricately-embroidered fabric, which required the attention of nearly 100 designers over 3,000 hours. Like her gown, the bride's veil was also made of antique tulle covered in hand-embroidered Swarovski beads and pearls. In keeping with her rustic elegance theme, she paired her gown with cowboy boots to honor their bucolic setting. And, of course, we'd be remiss not to mention that the groom also wore a custom Ralph Lauren suit.
Alice Delahunt's Wedding Dress
As the former Chief Digital and Content Officer at Ralph Lauren, it was a given that Alice Delahunt would wear a wedding dress by her own employer. She wed music manager Reese Lasher at Ashford Castle in Ireland back in November 2019, and her look was certainly fit to match the regal location. While Lasher opted for a strapless column Carolina Herrera wedding dress, Delahunt walked down the aisle wearing something a bit more avant-garde. She wore an open-back dress with lace seams, a high collar, and silk satin-covered buttons. Most notably, though, she accessorized with a green velvet cape paired with a matching grosgrain tie. "I loved the high stand collar and open back of my dress," Alice told Vogue after the wedding. "There was a strength and femininity to Ralph Lauren's design that resonated deeply with me."
