The Great Room At Historic Savage Mill

The mid-September wedding at the Great Room was an incredible experience. Working with Neil was a delight. During the planning phase, his advice was invaluable. He listened to what we wanted and offered great advice. He made planning the event easy and topped that off by making sure that the event went smoothly and easily, stepping in when needed to handle guest needs. The room itself was perfect and the food was off-the-hook!

Angie Wise at the Great Room was amazing to work with from start to finish. She's extremely responsive to all emails, no matter how silly the question may seem. She had amazing suggestions on what I should or shouldn't do during the reception to make my wedding wonderful. During the actual reception she went above and beyond to ensure that everything was taken care of. Besides Angie the venue itself was beautiful, from the floor to ceiling windows, to the antique look of the room. Angie and the venue made my wedding even more special than it already was.

Beyond my wildest dreams! Our wedding AND reception at The Great Room were beautiful, elegant, fun, and hassle-free. Throughout the planning and preparation process, Angie Wise was very kind and friendly. She is also very knowledgeable and able to help you make difficult wedding planning decisions based on her years of experience. On the day of the wedding, Angie ensured that everything ran smoothly and kept constant communication with our day-of wedding coordinator. Furthermore, the friendly staff provided by Putting on the Ritz were efficient and made sure that our wedding was wonderful. All in all, this venue, Angie Wise, and the staff made our wedding a day that was so fun and one that we will vividly and warmly remain in our memories.

Although we had a few headaches with the event coordinator mixing up details and issues with invoicing, causing last minute panics - the venue itself is wonderful. The room itself is breathtaking, and everyone has commented on the space being well used. The food is AMAZING. If you want to feed your guests well, go with this venue/caterer. There's plenty of space, they have a wide selection of linen colors, and the dance floor is awesome with plenty of space for dancers! They will take care of all the decorations you supply and set them up to your liking. They are very accommodating to special requests. One star is missing for the minor headaches in planning - but when they day comes, you will have the PERFECT RECEPTION.

I. Loved. Them. Easy to work with, handled the details for us, delivered our centerpieces and unopened beer/wine back to us. Gorgeous room with lots of parking, great attention to detail in setting up the room and dessert table. They're missing 1 star for giving leftovers to a guest prone to mooching and for forgetting to put out the forks/napkins I supplied with the cake. A tiny complaint given all the things they did well for us!

I fell in love with the Great Room the moment I saw it! It has charm and elegance. I love the dance floor in the center of the room, the large windows, and the outside deck!!! We had more then enough room for 165 people. Angie who is the event coordinator is a pleasure to work with and always available for a quick email or phone call! Best of all you can bring in all of your own alcohol! Putting on the Ritz catering company had great food! We had many comments on how wonderful the food was!!! Overall this was a top notch place and I would highly recommend to anyone!

The great room at historic savage mills is absolutely gorgeous - exposed brick, antique lead windows, open ventilation/duct work, attached tented deck and gorgeous scenery - it's almost too good to be true, but it's totally true. Putting on the Ritz is the house catering service and they were amazing. Great service and amazing food. There are old mill ruins and an abandoned railroad bridge you can take pictures on... the list of reasons why I loved my venue go on and on.

The Great Room was such a beautiful place to get married. It has a HUGE dance floor, beautiful architecture, and a big red deck on the side that overlooks the back of the mill. Angie, the coordinator was a delight to work with. She is organized and professional. She was honest and straight-forward, we NEVER felt like she was "nickel and diming" us. With our decorations, the room looked stunning. I can't imagine a more beautiful place to get married. :)

We were looking for something "rustic" but that could still hold our crowd of 275 and The Great Room was perfect for us. I love the historic location and our pictures on the nearby walking bridge are beautiful. I love that there is an outdoor aspect on the side desk (where we had our cocktail hour) for people to get some fresh air if they needed to. The room just glows in the daylight (with the skylights) and the evening (with the white twinkle lights on the plants and columns). I couldn't have asked for a better venue that still fit into our budget. Putting on the Ritz is a great caterer to work with too, with several options that fit into many budgets.

I could not have asked for a better reception Venue. It was absolutely beautiful and everything went off without a hitch! Angie was more than accommodating and met our every need!!

When my husband and I started looking for a reception site this is the only one we went to see. As soon as you walk in you all you see is the large windows with the trees. The Great Room at Savage Mill has a large dance floor and an outdoor patio. The food is amazing as well. Angie is the point of contact and she is there every step of the way.

The Great room offers a unique atmosphere, as it is a converted warehouse. High windows, exposed ceilings, and a large dancefloor bring out a lot of character in the room. The day of coordinator, Angie, and the rest of the staff were great the day of the wedding and made sure everything went smoothly.

This is a great place for a reception! And the backdrop of the historic bridge is great for pictures. My only conplaint is that they didn't respond to email or phone calls very timely...it usually took about 3 messages to get a returned call or email. But still, awesome venue!

We had an amazing experience at The Great Room. Our wedding was on New Year's Eve 2012, and we had 190 guests in the room (which held both our ceremony AND reception). Our coordinator, Angie Wise, is wonderful! The Puttin' on the Ritz catering staff could not have been more helpful and polite (which was kind considering they were working on New Year's Eve!). We only heard completely positive reviews from our guests pertaining to the food. I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding.

What a beautiful, unique venue. When we started looking for venues, I was getting bored by all the same looking banquet halls in hotels. Then we walked into the Great Room (and it wasn't even set up for an event) and I knew this was the place. It has a very romantic, victorian feel, high ceilings, ballroom atmosphere. Then we met with Angie Wise, the most flexible, laid back, pleasant wedding coordinator that we had met with yet. The entire process of setting everything up (from picking out colors to food tasting) was fun and not stressful. She even gave us suggestions on local hotels and transport between them (as the Great Room does not have a hotel), which was a huge relief as I thought this was the only downfall of the Great Room. Angie was so prompt with all my last minute e-mails and helped calm down a nervous, (borderline bride-zilla) bride. Even though Angie has done a million weddings, I felt like mine was the only one she was planning. I would highliy recommend this venue (along with Angie Wise) and can truly say it was the best night of my life!

I loved the location and the coordinator did a great job decorating the room and running the service. Everything was wonderful.

We had a wonderful experience with Putting on the Ritz at The Great Room at Savage Mill. The site manager, Angie, acted as our event coordinator and did a fabulous job. She was on top of every detail and very easy to work with. POTR provided our guests with delicious food and good service. They have a huge menu to customize for your event. The venue itself was unique and beautiful. It is a blank canvas that has a lot of options. We couldn't have been happier that we chose The Great Room at Savage Mill for our wedding.

From the moment we contacted Angie, the coordinator of The Great Room, we were impressed by her friendliness, organization, and knowledge! Every time I had a question, she immediately responded to my emails. She had recommendations for other vendors during the beginning of our planning that were excellent. The reception itself was so beautiful. We chose The Great Room because of the character that Savage Mill possessed. The lighting, linens, and set-up of the room flowed just right. A big plus on why we chose The Great Room was the large covered deck. We actually had our cocktail hour set up on the deck! The food was incredible. People are still talking about it today. We had the beef tenderloin and crab cakes. Angie and her staff were nothing but professional and more importantly, friendly!

Angie and her team were fantastic! They made our wedding day perfect and I trusted them to carry out my ideas completely. The room was set up beautifully, the food was delicious (which is not typical for most buffets that I have been to) and the service was impeccable. The Great Room was just the setting that I was looking for - rustic, but elegant! I would highly recommend the Great Room to anyone.

The Room comes with beautiful mirrors candles and pillars. The food was EXCELLENT! Many guests commented it was the best wedding food they had ever had.

The Great Room looks classy and amazing; especially at night. We got married on the balcony so you a re surrounded by trees. And we took pictures by the old bridge which was a great backdrop. All of our guests commented on the gorgeous venue!
