Editor's Note: This article was originally published on August 26. They Becca Bloom and David Pownall are now married. Congratulations to the happy couple!

I watched her get engaged, choose her wedding venue, go dress shopping, and reveal the jewels she'll wear on her big day. No, I'm not talking about my bestie, I'm talking about my favorite person to follow on TikTok: Becca Bloom. For so many, including myself, Becca Bloom and her fiancé David Pownall's wedding is arguably *the* wedding of 2025, though some may say that right belongs to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos. I respectfully disagree, and let me explain why Becca Bloom's wedding is my royal wedding.

In case you're *not* chronically online, Becca Bloom (whose real name is Rebecca Ma) started posting on TikTok in January 2025. Within a few posts, she quickly became the embodiment of "RichTok," a subculture that documents the antics of the uber wealthy, including Becca Bloom. Yet there was something refreshing about Becca, who was far from flashy and loud about her average daily spend and her family's background. (Indeed, I discovered her from a TikTok video explaining why Becca Bloom is, "a rich person who riches right.")

Seemingly overnight, Becca garnered 4 million TikTok followers, many of whom were intrigued by the lifestyle of an ultra-high net worth individual plating breakfasts for her dog with silverware from an egg-shaped Cristofle item. Although not many can relate in terms of wealth, Becca has been deemed relatable for her ability to speak to her audience as though she's having a casual conversation with a close friend…while she gingerly plates her cat's breakfast of caviar, sashimi, homemade bone broth and other delectables over a Versace charger. Becca also regularly shares her top dating and relationship advice based on her own experience and psychology theories. My personal favorite is her series comparing dating to high-yield investment strategies.

For the last eight months, Becca Bloom has felt like my down-to-earth internet friend, as I watch her unbox Hermes, Chanel and Van Cleef hauls, go to private shopping events and galas with Dior, Bulgari and Oscar de la Renta, jet around the world in private planes and spacious yachts, and live a life very few people can imagine, much less attain. I have also watched her ultra-luxe wedding planning experience with Pownall, her partner of six years. One similarity to the Bezos-Sanchez wedding is that the event is sure to be over-the-top. After all, Becca and Pownall also chose to have their friends and family flock to Italy. While the former duo chose Venice, Becca and Pownall will wed at the picturesque Lake Como on August 28.

Becca has contributed to the new blueprint for how influencers will share their weddings. Instead of only focusing on the wedding day itself, couples of 2025 have created content during every part of the planning process, from their venue tours and cake tasting to choosing wedding rings and attire.

Becca has built up anticipation through her content engine while appearing unflappable, composed and laid-back as she goes through the wedding planning experience. She refers to herself as a "type B bride." And I, for one, am hooked.

Here's the TL;DR on Becca Bloom and Her Fiancé

Devoted followers of Becca Bloom have been tuning in since early January. But if you haven't seen her all over your FYP, you may be wondering who she is and how she gained popularity so quickly. (She was named to the 2025 Time100 Creators List, and in good company alongside other top creators like Alex Cooper, Alix Earle, Meredith Hayden and Delaney Rowe.) I used my investigative journalism skills to give you the 411:

  • Despite having more than 5 million followers on TikTok and Instagram combined, the 27-year old influencer and socialite has not quit her day job. She lives in San Francisco and works in fintech.
  • In 2000, her parents Simon Yiming Ma and Heidi Chou cofounded the Beijing-based financial industry IT services company Camelot Information Systems. They took the company public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2010 in a nearly $146.7 million initial public offering. In 2014, they took the company private.
  • Becca grew up in California in a town called Atherton, which has been the wealthiest zip code in the country for eight years in a row, per Property Shark data. She started multiple businesses before graduating from the Melo School and heading off to the University of Southern California where she majored in business and economics and minored in law.

Now you may be wondering about her relationship with Pownall, who is a tech lead at Amazon. Here are some fast facts to know before the wedding day:

  • Becca has been with her now fiancé, Pownall, since he saw her in a coffee shop on the last day of 2019 and struck up a conversation. (He later told The Wall Street Journal he went over to her because she "had an aura about her." Swoon.)
  • After three and a half years of dating, Pownall proposed in Italy in 2023. She shared that he planned a full day of activities in Positano, including booking a boat ride ostensibly so she could take photos for Instagram. Little did she know, there were professional photographers on board to take pictures of the proposal. He gave Becca a stunning oval engagement ring.
  • They have lived together for five years and are currently house hunting and looking at palatial multi-million dollar mansions.

As a wedding editor, here's why I'm locked into this couple and their wedding planning experience:

  • While I've read countless articles about luxury weddings and seen pictures on social media that stopped me from scrolling, I rarely get to see the behind-the-scenes of the planning process.
  • Not many people hop on a private jet to dash off to a wedding dress fitting in Paris. And even fewer people candidly share their experience on social media in a way that feels like you're watching your favorite reality TV show.
  • As one commenter said, "It's like watching the behind the scenes of a royal wedding but better." +1.

What We Know About Becca Bloom's Wedding

For eight months, Becca has allowed her followers to catch a glimpse at galas, Michelin-star restaurants, couture fashion shows and private shopping appointments. She's also given us access to what it takes to plan an ultra high-end wedding.

Becca Bloom's Wedding Venue

Becca shared that they are getting married at *the* Villa Balbiano in Lake Como this August, saying that it is "one of the most sought after venues" and that "she fell in love with it the first time she saw it." (As a wedding editor, I can confirm this and that it takes a top-tier vendor team to execute a wedding in this historic, grand space.) Becca said she wasn't comfortable sharing the price of her entire wedding, but said that renting the villa for three days and two nights costs $100,000 to $150,000. That does not include the cost of all the vendors, including her chosen florist Larry Walshe Studios.

Star Wars fans will recognize Villa Balbiano as the setting for Anakin and Padmé's wedding. It is also where Bollywood A-listers Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married in 2018. One of my other favorite TikTok influencers, Hannah Chody Milburn (who exchanged vows at the esteemed venue in 2022) enlisted the high-profile pros Lake Como Wedding Planners. Becca hasn't shared if she worked with a wedding planner, but she did give a shout-out to that team when she shared inspiration from other couples who got married at the villa. Other high-profile couples have gotten married in Lake Como, including George and Amal Clooney, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen and Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.

While she went with a Lake Como wedding, Becca did have her eye on another destination wedding location. On her short list was the beloved Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, which was her "dream venue" for a long time. The bride-to-be, however, who's notoriously superstitious, nixed the venue because she and Pownall got into a fight there. (The luxury hotel in the South of France is where "it" girls model and influencer Sophia Richie Grainge and Hill House Home founder Nell Diamond got married.)

Additionally, Becca considered Oheka Castle in New York, which you may recognize from Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" music video and influencer Jaz Smith's viral wedding. (Yes, the one with the Etsy witch.)

Becca Bloom's Wedding Invitation

Becca's custom wedding invitations arrived in a velvet-lined wooden box engraved with their names and initials on the outside and a hand drawn gold foil illustration of the venue. Under an envelope with the invitation and RSVP card is a picture from their engagement photoshoot in a lavender field in Provence, France.

The invites were designed by Cartalia Stationery Studio, a two-time winner on The Knot Best of Weddings list. (The studio offers bespoke design services and has a portfolio of past invites for Lake Como weddings at breathtaking villas.) Becca's TikTok featuring the luxe invites has a staggering 22.2 million views. One of the commenters said, "I used to hate coming across rich influencers, but I honestly love how uplifting honest and here to be our life coach you are amazing thank you for sharing your life."

Customized wedding stationery has long been sought after by the ultra wealthy. Couples who want to mimic Becca can create save-the-dates and wedding invitations that people will actually want to save. Think watercolor paintings or drawings of the venue, letterpress or calligraphy, wax seals, parchment paper and, yes, custom boxes that require ample postage stamps.

Becca Bloom's Wedding Dress

Becca hasn't shared the full reveal of her wedding gown yet (and for good reason), but she posted a GRWM and OOTD video getting ready to try on her Oscar de la Renta dress for the first time. She filmed the video from a balcony overlooking the Eiffel Tower and shared some content at the designer's Paris flagship store. Oscar de la Renta's bridal services include made-to-order and custom gowns created by the design and atelier team. Oscar de la Renta is known for its playful, colorful and fun floral clothing.

As a wedding editor, I predict that Becca will wear a one-of-a-kind gown with stunning floral elements as a nod to her nickname. She often wears florals from top designers like Elie Saab, Leo Lin, Zimmerman and, of course, Oscar de la Renta. She is also known for her love for Van Cleef & Arpels. Becca wears her favorite Van Cleef Alhambra pieces, inspired by four leaf clovers, daily and has given a preview of the brand's wildflower-inspired diamond necklace she will wear on her wedding day. As what I hope is foreshadowing, she wore head to toe florals to a last-minute wedding dress fitting. Becca is also a fan of butterflies and I predict she will wear one of their butterfly inspired dresses during her wedding weekend.

The esteemed designer is a fitting choice for brides who want a classic gown made by artisans using the best fabrics and intricate detailing like laser cut flowers, embroidered lace and sequin embellishments. Other brides who wore an Oscar de la Renta wedding dress include actresses Kate Bosworth, Naomi Watts, Allison Williams, Joey King and Katherine Heigl. Oscar was also the choice for a bevvy of high-profile brides, including Amal Clooney, Paris Hilton, Jenna Bush Hager, Bee Carrozzini and Countess Olympia von und zu Arco-Zinneberg.

Becca posted the runner up, a gorgeous a-line off-the-shoulder wedding gown with beading shaped as, you guessed it, florals. Although she didn't divulge who made it, she shared other top contenders from Elie Saab, Oscar de la Renta, Monique Lhuillier and Nicole and Felicia. The video has 2.5 million views.

Becca Bloom's Wedding Jewelry

Becca shared that she is wearing a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace from the Folie des Prés collection that she custom ordered. She first saw the necklace when the storied brand invited her family to a private show in Napa, California. (The necklace is $395,000.) She is also wearing earrings from the high-jewelry collection that retail at $137,000 and the $67,500 ring. Psst: Brides who want to sparkle on their wedding day without splurging can use a wedding jewelry rental service.

In a "Everyday Jewelry Tour" video, she divulged that Pownall already wears a wedding band because he "wanted to feel engaged as well" and that when they were at Tiffany's picking up his ring, she saw a Tiffany wedding band from the Victoria collection and he bought it for her. (It is $23,500.) It pairs well with Becca Bloom's oval solitaire engagement ring.

Becca Bloom's "Wedding Tree"

Becca has shown some of the wedding gifts she has received so far, including a rare crocodile Hermès Kelly 25, a Chanel bag from her family's Nieman Marcus sales associate and multiple Van Cleef jewels, including a "something blue" 16-motif necklace from her mom and the matching bracelet from Pownall. She said she is putting the gifts under her "Wedding Tree," which is a decorative tree or an actual tree that is planted to honor the couple's marriage.

The Wedding Week Experience

After months of anticipation, the wedding week is finally here and I'm almost as excited as I would be if I had a coveted invitation. Becca is currently in Paris for prewedding appointments and more, including:

  • Shopping for her wedding shoes at Chanel, Rene Caovilla and Dior. She didn't divulge if she found a pair, but she did buy Rene Caovilla pink heels as a wedding gift to herself for "committing to doing my best."
  • Going to Oscar de la Renta for a last-minute wedding dress fitting. (She wore a gorgeous Oscar de la Renta dress with cherry blossom print and bow straps, a floral Dolce and Gabbana clutch and vintage Chanel heels with more flowers.)
