According to The Knot Real Weddings Study, the average engagement length is 16 months. In other words, the majority of couples spend just over a year planning their big day—but that wasn't the case for Miami-based influencer Emmy Petit and her now-husband, Greg. The couple got engaged on December 3, 2022, and didn't fully begin their planning journey until the middle of January 2023, leaving them just two months until their March 30th wedding date.

So, how exactly do you plan a wedding that fast? For starters, she and Greg relied on The Knot's suite of planning resources (which, of course, was music to our ears). "We loved using The Knot's digital tools, like online save the dates, SMS updates, and The Knot app—particularly the timeline feature—to help us stay on track for a short planning period," Emmy tells us.

Despite the fast turnaround, the couple successfully pulled off the "timeless and elevated" culturally-driven nuptials of their dreams, which featured thoughtful religious elements, a raucous reception, and an unforgettable pool jump at the end of the night. We caught up with Emmy after her big day to get the scoop on the wedding vendors she couldn't live without, the gifts she and her husband registered for, and the must-know tips and tricks she picked up along the way.

In this article:

Emmy Petit's Must-Have Wedding Vendors

When it came time to start booking wedding vendors, Emmy knew that she wanted to hire diverse pros who would understand her vision for a culturally-driven event as a nod to her and her husband's Haitian-American backgrounds. "As someone who advocates for representation and inclusion holistically—specifically in the influencer and entrepreneurial world—it was incredibly important for me to align those values in my wedding planning," she explains. "I love supporting Black business owners and Black talent, so it came naturally to me that nearly all of my wedding vendors were Black (and Haitian) business owners." (Psst: You can do the same on The Knot Vendor Marketplace using our "Support Diversity" tags.)

She continues, "Black love is such a beautiful thing and when you understand the history that often hindered it, it reveals itself to be even more beautiful as it persists and thrives from generation to generation. Black vendors that support these love stories in curating beautiful celebrations of their union are deserving of support and recognition."

Here are the five wedding vendors she found to be most critical throughout her planning journey.

A Cohesive Venue

The very first vendor Emmy booked was her wedding venue. She and Greg selected Hacienda de Las Palmas as the backdrop for their nuptials, an upscale mansion in South Florida that served as an extension of their sophisticated theme. "[Booking our venue first] made the most sense to us, as we needed to secure our official wedding date prior to being able to book other vendors," Emmy shares. "This decision also helped us be clear on the aesthetic vision of the wedding."

A Thoughtful Event Designer

Next, Emmy enlisted the help of Adjannie Victor, founder of florist and event design company La Table Chic Events, to continue to bring their aesthetic to life. "Adjannie was so helpful throughout our planning process," Emmy raves. "She guided us through the vision for the event and provided resources every step of the way."

A Talented Glam Team

Two more vendors Emmy was exceptionally selective about were her hair and makeup pros. "I wanted to make sure that whenever I saw pictures of this monumental day, I recognized the person in the image," she explains. "It was really important for me to have a clear vision of what an elevated version of myself would look like on my wedding day."

The bride worked with Matti Domingue, one of her favorite makeup artists, to create a look that was "very glowy, bronzy and natural." For her hair, Emmy tapped her regular hairstylist from her salon, Glam Luxe Hair, which she says was key to nailing her beauty look—and having fun doing it. "Both women are like girlfriends to me, and we had such a fun time getting ready, listening to music, and having girl chat leading up to the wedding," she recalls. "It was the perfect way to get ready for the biggest day of my life."

A Lively DJ

Entertainment was another key piece of Emmy's wedding puzzle. "When planning our wedding, the vibe was the most important element, even before the aesthetic," she tells us. "My husband Greg is the life of every party, so it was imperative that our wedding day met that standard. We chose a DJ that understood our vibe, our crowd, our culture, and delivered an exceptional time of enjoyment to our guests."

If the photos are any indication, an exceptional time was had by all. "Our reception was WILD. Period. The good kind of wild that we were hoping for," Emmy reflects. "By the end of the night, silk napkins turned into flags in the air and chairs were on top of our guests' heads as they danced and circled the whole venue. It was a vibe—the vibe we intentionally curated."

A Maid of Content

Another one of Emmy Petit's must-have wedding vendors was a trending pro on the rise. "One of the best things I did for our wedding was commission someone to be my 'Maid of Content' to take over my social media platforms and capture the behind-the-scenes moments," she explains. "This not only allowed my online community to feel like they were guests at our wedding but also made for great detailed memories that may not have been captured by our photographer and videographer."

If you've ever wanted to look at the registry of an influencer, we have great news: Beyond telling us about her favorite wedding vendors, Emmy also gave us an inside look at some of the gifts she and her husband requested. Take a peek at a collection of items that made it to the top of her wishlist.

Miami-Based Experiences

Rather than focus their wedding registry on physical items, Emmy and Greg made it a point to prioritize experiences they can enjoy together. "Experiences last forever, and having those experiences tied to specific people during a monumental moment of our lives makes them that much more meaningful and memorable for us," Emmy says, adding that South Florida-based excursions were their most coveted presents. "I have explored quite a bit of my city, but there is always more to discover! I think most people can say that about their hometowns as well. I love finding new activities and experiences to do in Miami."

A Cash Fund

Aside from experiential gifts, Emmy and Greg also included a cash fund on their registry, allowing them to save up for even more activities to enjoy during married life, like date nights and future home upgrades.

Hosting Essentials

Although the majority of their registry was dedicated to non-tangible items, the couple was intentional about registering for select items to round out their collection of hosting essentials. "Throughout our dating years, my husband and I discussed our desire to be frequent hosts to our friends and family in our home," Emmy tells us. Some of the items that made their list included a set of red wine glasses, a 16-piece dinnerware set, and a stunning salad bowl with an oak trivet.

A Deluxe Air Fryer

Another kitchen staple they were sure to include on their list was a deluxe air fryer, notably for the days their home would become a gathering spot. "A lot of the classic registry gifts we selected are essential items we use when hosting, especially our air fryer," she says. "I highly recommend this to anyone looking to make easy dishes when hosting."

The Wedding Invitations Emmy Petit Loves

Once Emmy narrowed down her overarching aesthetic, she was intentional about styling every aspect of her wedding to match. "I love the idea of telling a story, so it was really important that with every element there was cohesion," she explains, noting that her stationery was an obvious way to convey the vision. "Having invitation selections that matched our wedding website allowed there to be a clear tone for the event as it led up."

She adds, "I think it's important to make your guest feel the vibe of the wedding prior to even attending, so picking our wedding website and invitation aesthetic was one of the decisions that I took some time on. I even asked friends what they felt upon seeing them."

Take a peek at four elevated and timeless invitation suites from The Knot that Emmy absolutely loves—including the set that matched her wedding website!

Modern Vow Wedding Invitations

With its chic type and statement color block background, it's hard not to swoon over the Modern Vow invitations. Emmy did too… because this is the exact invitation that corresponded with the wedding website template she used. "I wanted to make sure that our guests knew that our overall aesthetic was a timeless, elevated event while using warm and friendly language that also made it clear that this would be a down-to-earth and fun vibe," she says. We'd say this style certainly fits the bill.

Timeless Elegance Wedding Invitations
