Taylor Swift has seen plenty of love and heartbreak, and the superstar mixes that with emotional honesty and lyrical mastery to produce award-winning songs. If you or your partner are proud to call yourselves Swifties and are ready for your engagement era, then these Taylor Swift proposal ideas are for you.

As you find your ideal Taylor Swift proposal song and plan your big moment, consider what themes from the Grammy winner's life and legacy, such as her favorite number 13, you can weave into your proposal story. Polaroid snapshots or friendship bracelets hinting at what is to come might be a good place to start as you peruse this list of Swift-inspired proposal ideas. For a little assistance pulling these off, check out The Knot Vendor Marketplace to hire a proposal planner. You can find them under the wedding planners section then filter by "getting engaged." Once you have a planner, consider hiring a photographer and videographer to capture the once-in-twenty-lifetimes moment.

1. Get Inspo from Taylor Swift's Proposal

One of the best ways to plan a proposal fit for a Swiftie is to draw inspiration from Taylor Swift's proposal. Kansas City Chief's tight end Travis Kelce planned a picture-perfect proposal that looked like it was straight from the set of one of her Lover photoshoots. While you might not be able to transform your backyard with thousands of roses, hydrangeas, delphiniums, ranunculus and peonies like Kelce likely did, you can achieve similar Secret Garden vibes by heading to a public park, garden or gazebo. Set the stage with romantic lighting like candles, lanterns and fairy lights. (We're still swooning over the proposal and Taylor Swift's engagement ring.)

2. Plan a Taylor Swift Themed Scavenger Hunt

Taylor Swift is known for her Easter Eggs. Use Taylor Swift lyrics from different eras to lead your lover to a note with the final clue: Where they can find you. You could use lyrics like, "Dancing in the kitchen in the refrigerator light," "I stuck in through the garden gate every night that summer, just to seal my fate," and "Darling, you're the one I want, in paper rings, in picture frames, in dirty dreams." The last clue could be, "I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress. It's a love story, baby, just say, 'Yes.'" (We recommend having 13 clues as a nod to the numerology-lover's favorite number.)

3. Walk Through Your Eras as a Couple

If you and your sweetheart have been through different life stages together or you can't tell if you've known them for "20 seconds or 20 years," use that history to create your own Eras tour leading up to a proposal. With labels relevant to your love story, like "High School Sweethearts," "College Sweethearts" or the name of a city you lived in together, create a video to highlight each era or decorate different rooms in your house to match the stages and lead you to where you're going to propose. Make an Eras poster using photos from your time together with all the different color filters just like the real thing. To incorporate this into a meal, theme different parts of a multi-course dinner with each of your eras. Not only will this be a romantic walk down memory lane before looking towards the future together, but you can snap some Polaroids as you ask your partner to enter the engaged era with you.

4. Use Paper Rings

There's no denying that Lover's "Paper Rings" tells the story of someone excited to tie the knot, and that's why we think using a paper ring to propose would be absolutely adorable. So, ask your love if they would marry you with paper rings and then make them together. Have a sign nearby with lyrics from the song, such as "You're the one I want," or, "I like shiny things, but I'd marry you with paper rings." Level up this Taylor Swift proposal idea by taking a metalsmithing class together to create gorgeous rings that look like paper (we're thinking white gold with a hammer finish) but will actually last a lifetime.

5. Play a "Lover"-esque Video Montage

Taylor Swift's music video masterpiece "Lover" gives you a lot to pick from. We are enchanted by the idea of watching a video montage projected onto a white sheet like the one in the house's attic. This a solid choice for a Swiftie who wants a private, cozy proposal. You can incorporate a gift by buying your Swiftie a Taylor-inspired bright yellow ensemble just like in the video. "Lover" is one of our favorite Taylor Swift proposal songs as it has an abundance of lines to use in the big moment, from "I've loved you three summers but I want them all," to "I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover." Whatever you choose, this song is hands down one of the best choices for working into Taylor Swift proposals.

6. Go to Paris (Or Your Own Version)

You might not be able to jet off to Paris, but we love the idea of using Swift's love song "Paris" to plan your proposal idea. Get a bottle of champagne (or cheap wine) and write, "I want to brainwash you into loving me forever." This is perfect for someone who wants an intimate proposal. After all, as Swift said, "Romance isn't dead if you keep it just yours."

7. Plan a Romanic Cabin Getaway

Let the cozy vibes of Folklore and Evermore inspire your proposal. Head to a cabin and propose by the fireplace. Bring in elements like candles, moss and vintage-esque black and white photos from the course of your relationship. You could even line a path to the front door with a strand of fairy lights resembling an invisible string. Up the anti by giving your partner a custom-embroidered cardigan with their new title, "fiance," and hearts on the sleeves. Spend the evening dancing to some of the most romantic songs on the albums, like "Willow," "Invisible String," "Cardigan," "Peace" and "Evermore."

8. Propose on New Year's Day

"New Year's Day" is undeniably one of the most romantic Taylor Swift songs. Throw a New Year's Eve party with your nearest and dearest and propose right after the clock strikes midnight. Decorate the room with glitter confetti, candles and Polaroid pics from throughout your relationship. As soon as you say, "I want your midnights," you'll both have tears in your eyes.

9. Stay in the Lavender Haze

If you and your partner tend to keep hours similar to Swift's, embrace the magic of midnight with a date out of the "Lavender Haze" music video. We're thinking retro decor, lavender plants and a signature drink to highlight the occasion. Perhaps follow up the proposal with a beach stroll ending in a 3 am candlelit snuggle on a blanket with some fake snow and candles. Mixing in other romantic ways to propose and various elements from the sultry Midnights album is essential to making a creative, yet chill Taylor Swift wedding proposal.

10. Write Handwritten Signs From "You Belong With Me"

There's nothing quite like the high school romance pictured in Swift's 2009 "You Belong With Me" music video. Recreate this by standing outside your love's window with the classic "You OK?" sign. Bonus points if you plant a pad and paper for them to reply. Next, flip up an "I Love You" sign just like Taylor did, but hopefully, your almost-fiance will actually read it. Then, ask them to come outside and drop to one knee while you belt out the chorus. If you want to leave the singing to Swift, you can jump straight to the "I Love You" sign and play the song at a spot that's meaningful to you both.

11. Mimic the "Mine" Music Video

If you have your proposal spot already picked out but are wondering how to make it just right for your Swiftie, grab some string and photos of you together to recreate the scene from Taylor's "Mine" music video. While you can certainly pull this off in the woods like in the video, it would still be well received in a park gazebo, at your house or at another location special to the two of you. An engagement planner could help you pull this off, and this Taylor Swift-inspired proposal is certainly worth hiring an engagement photographer.

12. Go to a Christmas Tree Farm

Swift loves Christmas. After all, she grew up on a Christmas tree farm. December is a popular time to get engaged, as the holiday spirit has most people in good moods and family and friends are near. If this sounds like your season to get engaged, head to a Christmas tree farm for a romantic Taylor Swift marriage proposal. Take elements from the song's lyrics and video, making sure there is mistletoe and twinkling lights. Use phrases from the song to level up the proposal, such as letting them know they are your wish come true. Oh, and if you have a Christmas tree at home, go ahead and leave the lights up until January.

13. Swing by a Cat Cafe

If your person is a Swiftie, there's a pretty big chance they love cats as much as the superstar herself. If so, consider a date at a cat cafe as the setup for your proposal moment. Often, the cats at these establishments are up for adoption, so perhaps picking out a cat together can be the first step of the engagement process. If you're feeling extra creative, call the shop ahead of time and see if you can donate money in exchange for naming a cat or even have one of the cats bring the engagement ring to your love on its collar. Don't forget to post about this unique Swiftie proposal on social media, and use some of our favorite Taylor Swift captions when you do.

14. Host a Kansas City Watch Party Proposal

If "TNT's" love story has inspired a love for football, a Chiefs watch party might be just the right place to get engaged. You can keep it on theme without raising any suspicions by getting some custom cookies made and going all out with "TNT" decor. Whenever you decide to ask, present your love with a jersey in Chief's colors with your last name on it. This is a great way to involve friends and family in the proposal.

15. Plan a Taylor Swift Karaoke Proposal

Karaoke is an incredibly fun way to get a group of friends together, and a Taylor Swift-inspired night is one way to surprise your partner with a proposal party to remember. While you can spend plenty of time singing through Tay's top hits, make sure to save something like "Lover" or "Call It What You Want" to bust out when it's time to declare your love. This is also an easy way to use "Love Story" during a Taylor Swift proposal.

16. Make a Fort

There's something so fun and nostalgic about building a fort. It makes it feel like you are the only two people in the world, much like being in love. There are forts in multiple Taylor Swift lyrics and music videos like "Everything Has Changed," "Willow" and "Call It What You Want." You could even present your lover with an engagement ring and a necklace with your initial.
