Should Bridesmaids Pay for the Bride's Bachelorette Party Expenses?

This bachelorette party hot topic is now becoming the norm.

While some brides may choose to be clued in to their bachelorette party planning (or completely plan it themselves), it's become normal for the bridal party to agree to cover all of the bride's expenses for the bash. As in, the whole bachelorette party shares the costs of the bride's transportation, accommodations, meals, drinks and entertainment. If all the guests are on board with this, it can be a very generous added gift for the bride.

That said, as the bride, it's also important to be mindful of how much your bridesmaids are spending on your bash already. Chances are, they're already paying hundreds of dollars for transportation, accommodations, meals, drinks, entertainment and gifts for the bachelorette party alone, in addition to other prewedding events and the wedding itself. Is this something you feel everyone can reasonably afford?

If your group is paying for you, you and your maid of honor should be mindful of that in the choices you make for the itinerary. It's also not a bad idea to offer to buy everyone a round of drinks or a meal to show your sincere thanks and gratitude for this gift. It's important for whoever is coordinating the trip to make sure everyone in the group is okay taking on this added expense—it might be out of some guests' budgets, and you don't want to spend their money for them without getting consent. They're likely happy to chip in for a few meals or drinks, but maybe not the whole weekend—especially if it's a destination bachelorette party with lots of associated costs.
