In the Midwest, Kansas City is a sweet spot for bridal. From a chic boutique in downtown KC to a warehouse-y salon stocked with boho labels to one of the region's largest bridal sample stores in nearby Overland Park, the bridal shops in Kansas City run the gamut when it comes to styles and designers carried, prices, and even experience. Do your research (this list and The Knot's Vendor Marketplace are great places to start!) and keep in mind factors like the timeline for alterations, then make a list of two to three bridal salons to book appointments at. (Most bridal appointments last 60 to 90 minutes; a few salons offer upgrades for an additional fee, such as extra time or a more private shopping experience.) Next, curate your list of guests; we recommend no more than three so everyone else's opinions don't overwhelm your own. Between booking and arriving at the shop, search for inspiration just about everywhere—Pinterest, Instagram, designers' websites—and come armed with photos of your favorite dresses to help guide your stylist's pulls. Finally, the fun part: Try on gorgeous gowns and, hopefully, say yes to the dress!

Emily Hart Bridal

"At Emily Hart, all are welcome," says lead stylist Faith Clouse. "Every body, every bride. We're here to celebrate love in every form." That inclusivity extends to the gowns on display—by labels like Woná Concept, Eva Lendel, Enaura and Casablanca—nearly every one of which can be customized to fit the bride's vision, either by the Emily Hart team or in collaboration directly with the designer. "What sets Emily Hart apart from other Kansas City bridal shops is our ability to customize almost every gown in our store," Clouse says. "This is always such a fun, exciting process—not just for us, but for the bride whose vision we've helped bring to life! Also, our designer relationships are really special. We're on a first-name basis with almost all of our designers, which helps us ensure the bride's dream is coming to life exactly as she pictured." Check out the in-house Emily Hart Collection for something especially one-of-a-kind. And, most importantly, "come as you are," Clouse says. "You're our favorite version of you."

Review Spotlight: "This is just the most welcoming, beautiful shop with amazing consultants that are the ultimate hype crew. My sisters and I have gone 3 for 3 at the shop and I wouldn't want it any other way. Payton was my fantastic consultant, and she made me feel so comfortable and beautiful in everything I tried, and she also listened to my feedback and opinions to make sure that she put me in gowns that I would like and didn't just care about making the sale. Truly, the team at Emily Hart makes it such a special experience for each of their brides and families." –Nicole R., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Fabulous Frocks Bridal

"At Fabulous Frocks, a bride's dress shopping experience begins before they even step foot in the door," says owner Angela Hinkle. "When brides book an appointment, a stylist reaches out to chat all about the big day and vision for the dress! Then, we come up with gown ideas that fit their time frame, budget and style vision, and send them to the bride." When the appointment finally arrives, the team has favorite dresses (and a glass of Champagne!) ready to go—and when a bride "finds her frock" they celebrate with a confetti toss photo-op. As for the gowns, Fabulous Frocks has exclusives with designers like Jimme Huang, Miss Scarlett, Jasmine Bridal and Moonlight Bridal. "We only pick gowns that are comfortable to wear and are elevated in style, which creates confident looks for our brides on their big day," Hinkle says. The team's goal is always to find the gown that makes a bride feel like herself. "A Fab Frocks bride doesn't fit into any mold because they know who they are and will wear a gown that is special to them. We always say we are looking for the gown that makes you feel like yourself—as a bride."

Review Spotlight: "Angela and her team at Fabulous Frock made finding MY frock a fairytale experience. They spent time getting to know me before I even stepped foot in the boutique. They had dresses waiting for me to try on when I arrived. It didn't take long for me to #findmyfrock because of the research (on their part) done beforehand. The experience was fun and I felt celebrated and supported. They sent a postcard in the mail and a follow up email after I found my dress. Angela even provided suggestions for local seamstresses in my area in case I needed alterations. I highly highly recommend finding your dream dress at Fabulous Frocks in KC!" –Kathryn M., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Review Spotlight: "Lexi and Amy helped me find my absolute dream dress! We were lucky enough to have the entire store to ourselves. Their store is beautiful and welcoming. They were the only store in town to carry my favorite designer, but didn't have an exact dress of that designer's that I love. So they had the designer ship it to me, and it turned out to be the one!! They were so kind and helpful. I truly couldn't imagine a different experience. Thank you Lexi and Amy!" –Molly C., Google Reviews
