Every bride has a style—and a budget, and a size and a timeline, plus a vision for her entire wedding vibe. Luckily for Philly brides, the range of bridal shops in Philadelphia caters to all. If being green is important, shop sustainable bridal designers at Kinfolk Bride; if trying on samples that celebrate your curves is paramount, check out the stellar selection at The Wedding Factor. In this list of a half dozen of our favorite bridal gown shops in Philadelphia, we highlight what sets each salon apart from the rest. Of course, each has a beautifully curated inventory of designers, promises a stress-free shopping experience and boasts a sweet staff of stylists; in many cases, the salons have even earned accolades in The Knot Vendor Marketplace. You can't go wrong when selecting a wedding dress, as long as you remain true to you—these shops are here to help.

The Sample Rack

At The Sample Rack, brides can shop top designers—think Berta, Pronovias, Rosa Clara, Justin Alexander, Watters and more—at 20 to 60% off the original retail price. How is that possible, you ask? "We sell off the rack," explains owner Jim Whittaker. "You buy the dress you try on and take it home the same day. The gowns are either samples or direct from the designer, and have never been previously owned." (There's an environmentally friendly component, too: "The gown is not being made for you, but already exists," Whittaker says.). The Sample Rack is our pick of bridal shops in Philadelphia, PA, that cater to brides with high style but a tighter budget, or those looking for a gown on a tight timeline. The best part? The boutique experience isn't compromised. Consultants work with one bride at a time by appointment (appointments cost $25, which then gets applied to the cost of a chosen gown) to find the perfect dress.

Size Range: 0-28W

Price Range: $800-$3,500

Review Spotlight: "Thank goodness for The Sample Rack!! I found them 2 months before my wedding and they helped me find my fairytale dress. I went into the store a little stressed because I was shopping for a new dress after not liking my original. Their inventory was great, lots of styles and sizes to choose from. They helped me try on over a dozen dresses until I found the perfect one. My new dress fit me so much better and I loved knowing that it was one of a kind. Truly so grateful for their support and help." —Kennedy D., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Lovely Bride

Lovely Bride has locations across the nation, but its bridal shop in Center City Philadelphia is among our favorites. "We like to tell brides that our experience begins before you even step foot in our door," says owner Ivy Solomon. "When you book with us, you get a personal link to our lookbook which has our exact collection, so you can browse the dresses and get excited about what you are going to try on." Brides can peg styles from popular designers like Made With Love, Sarah Seven, Alexandra Grecco, Rue de Seine, SAINT, Louvienne, OUMA and Renhue, then fill out a style questionnaire. "Our stylists take the time to read through each questionnaire and cater the appointment to each individual's preferences." Each bride and her shopping crew gets a private room for their 90-minute appointment, bookable online. Adds Solomon: "We cater to the modern bride looking for something that feels fresh and fashion-forward."

Size Range: 0-30 (note that some designers only go up to size 18)

Price Range: $1,500-$6,500 (with the majority of dresses falling between $2,500 and $4,500)

Review Spotlight: "I was nervous and a little self-conscious about the bridal gown shopping experience, but decided to try Lovely Bride based on their selection of gowns. Not only did I find an amazing selection, but I also had the best shopping experience! River was the BEST to work with! She exhibited such a high level of class and professionalism and turned my nerves into excitement and confidence without any pressure. They are so good at cheering you on every step of the way at Lovely Bride." —Ari A., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Kimberly James Bridal

Kimberly James Bridal recently moved into a new Chestnut Hill location, and the experience is even better than before: "Our brand-new, gorgeous shop features a much larger bridal showroom, two private salons where we take bridal appointments and a sewing room for our in-house alterations specialist," says bridal consultant Elise Hudson. "Something that sets KJB apart is the cozy, private experience we offer our brides. We believe planning a wedding is stressful enough, so why not make the wedding-gown shopping experience as chill and as fun as possible?" Appointments last 90 minutes, and start times are staggered so every bride gets to explore the showroom individually. The team sees brides through the whole process, from inspiration and shopping to alterations and accessories styling. "We cater to all types of brides, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community," Hudson says. "We have styled for elopements, bohemian, formal, glam, beachy, avant-garde, romantic and classic weddings. No bride or style is excluded." Indeed, Kimberly James is among the most size-inclusive shops we've found for wedding dresses in Philadelphia—the store can order gowns in sizes 0-40 and carries a wide variety of sizing for floor samples—and stocks chic labels like Madi Lane, Mori Lee, Tania Olsen, Michelle Bridal and Eddy K, plus its own private label, Mila Isabella.

Size Range: 0-40

Price Range: $1,000-$4,000

Review Spotlight: "If you want a very personal and relaxed bridal gown appointment - this is the shop to go to! Appointments are one at a time and never did I once feel pressured to like or buy something. My stylist, Elise, helped me navigate through each section of gowns which I loved! My sister was also with me and she remarked how personal and different (in a great way!) the appointment was compared to the shops we had been to so far. Shoutout to Elise and Kim for being so fun and kind! Thank you all so much for an unforgettable experience!!" —Raffi G., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Kinfolk Bride

Weddings naturally produce a lot of waste in that they are brought to life using primarily single-use items. With Kinfolk Bride, owner Mayana Carter seeks to combat that. "Kinfolk Bride has chosen designers that create each garment to order, offer tons of options for customization, utilize deadstock fabric and recycle unused fabric," she says. Among those designers are some of Carter's favorites: The Law Bridal, handmade right here in Philadelphia; Newhite, handmade in Los Angeles; and a new arrival, demi-couture label Varca out of Chicago. "We care deeply about introducing our clients to diverse and sustainable designers—especially labels led by women—and making sure that every person getting married feels beautiful on their big day, regardless of personal style, body size or gender expression," Carter says. "It's important to me to cater to all brides, especially folks who don't connect with a wedding look centered on the traditional bridal gown. Kinfolk offers lots of different garment options so that every person can enjoy that special experience of being styled at a bridal boutique." Pre-appointment, brides submit info like their preferred pronouns and favorite music so they feel comfortable from the moment they walk in. Says Carter: "When you're comfy, you're confident—and that's when we can get creative!"

Size Range: 8-24 for sample gowns (additional sizes orderable)

Price Range: $2,000-$7,500 (second looks and shorter garments starting at $1,000)

Review Spotlight: "Had an amazing experience at Kinfolk Bride! I had absolutely no clue what kind of dress I was looking for when I went in. Mayana did such an incredible job figuring out what I liked/disliked and tailored the dress pulls perfectly to find THE one. She is seriously a bridal magician. Highly recommend!!" —Robin S., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Sabrina Ann

For more than 20 years, Sabrina Ann owner Sabrina Sigler has been dressing brides in gowns by stellar labels like Lillian West, Justin Alexander, Louvienne, Jenny Yoo, Lover's Society and Maggie Sottero. The twist? All gowns are off-the-rack samples, rather than made-to-order, so there's an element of sustainability—and affordability—as well, in comparison to other wedding dress shops in Philadelphia. "We cater to the smart, eco-conscious, trendy bride," Sigler says. "She knows what she wants." In 2016, Sigler opened a second location in West Chester, which carries a beautifully curated selection of extended sizes that's constantly growing. "We are a relaxed and low-pressure boutique shop with excellent, knowledgeable staff," Sigler says. "And we have been open for 20 years! I have seen many shops come and go [in that time]. That says something."

Size Range: 2-16 (Ardmore location); 8-24 (West Chester location)

Price Range: $800-$3,000 (Ardmore location); $1,000-$3,000 (West Chester location)

Review Spotlight: "I had a great experience buying my wedding dress at Sabrina Ann! Kelly made my mom and I feel so comfortable. We had a lot of fun trying on all the dresses. I went into my appointment thinking I wasn't making any big decisions that day but then walked out 1.5 hours later with the dress of my dreams. My mom and I plan on visiting again to search for her mother of the bride dress!" —Renee B., The Knot Vendor Marketplace
