A St. Thomas honeymoon is perfect for those looking for soft sand, incredible weather and romantic vibes. Located just over 100 miles off the coast of Puerto Rico, St. Thomas—one of the three US Virgin Islands—is known for its crystal-clear waters, range of activities and fantastic accommodations.

Due to its status as a US territory, traveling to the US Virgin Islands is relatively easy for most Americans. However, because of its location, traveling to St. Thomas is most accessible for those living on the East Coast and in the South. A number of US cities offer direct flights to St. Thomas, including New York, Miami, Dallas, Chicago and Atlanta.

As of October 2021, travelers to the US Virgin Islands must submit a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival to the territory. PCR and rapid tests are both accepted. Travelers must have taken the test in the five days prior to arriving in the territory.

Plus, since the US Virgin Islands are a US territory, Americans do not need a passport to travel here.

Due to the island's location and small size, many foods are imported, making meals on the island relatively expensive. Additionally, mid-summer to fall (July to October) is hurricane season on the island. Large Category 5 hurricanes (such as Irma and Maria) have hit the island during this time.

The Best Times of Year to Go on a St. Thomas Honeymoon for Good Weather

Head to St. Thomas in the spring for warm temperatures—and to avoid hurricane season (July through October). From April to June, temperatures hover around the 80s. If you don't mind slightly cooler weather, visit St. Thomas in the winter for sparser crowds and temperatures in the 70s.

It's in the name—Honeymoon Beach was made for honeymooners. Known as one of the more secluded beaches on the island, this beach boasts soft white sand, bright-blue waters and natural wildlife. Spend hours laying out in the sun or opt to rent kayaks or stand-up paddle-boards.

Go Scuba Diving in Magens Bay

Searching for the perfect spot to scuba dive or snorkel? Head to Magens Bay. This famous island spot is located along St. Thomas' northern coastline. You'll feel tucked away from the chaos of the outside world at this lush oceanfront spot.

Become One With Nature

Immerse yourself (literally) with all of the animals and wildlife that call St. Thomas home at Coral World. You can opt to book a variety of different animal experiences, from kayaking with dolphins to swimming with sea lions.

Visit Coki Beach

If you envision yourself swimming with fish on your honeymoon, head to Coki Beach. This spot on the northeastern coast of the island is known for snorkeling and swimming. Since it's so well-known, it can become crowded, so plan to head here in the morning for a more secluded experience.
