It's no secret that one of the best parts of planning a wedding is getting to take a vacation with your new spouse after you've exchanged vows. These days, many resorts cater to newlyweds by offering exclusive honeymoon packages with lots of romantic extras (a couples massage, anyone?). So, whether you're looking at a minimoon or a week-long jaunt somewhere exotic, there's a package or all-inclusive resort that's made for you. To nudge you in the right direction and help you plan the trip of a lifetime, we've listed the best honeymoon resorts located in the world's most popular honeymoon destinations.

In this article:

What to Look for When Booking a Honeymoon Package

Your honeymoon is likely to be one of the most special vacations you'll ever take, but with so many great locations to choose from, the hardest decision you'll have to make is where to go. According to company data, 61% of US-based couples honeymoon outside of the US and over half of couples opt for a beach-based honeymoon. On top of that, around a quarter of couples prefer an all-inclusive honeymoon resort—but what should you look for when booking a honeymoon package?

"Budget is usually one of the first concerns. There are options for most price ranges, however, you need to be realistic. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for," Reco trip designers Mike K. and Curtis R. advise. "Other items to consider are travel times as some locations can require overnight flights which can be stressful after a wedding. Most of all, it's about finding the right resort for your desires. Friends and family will provide suggestions, but their likes may be different than yours."

Reco says that 95% of its honeymooners choose an all-inclusive package as it allows the couple to "exhale and relax" following their wedding.

"If you're interested in an all-inclusive specifically, know that there is a different feel for an all-inclusive resort close to a town versus one out on open space outside a town," the trip designers continue. "The all-inclusive resort that is within or close to the city allows you to easily get off property and experience local culture. With the resort further away from the city you spend most of your time on property and may do a few excursions to experience the culture."

With this in mind, it really is up to you to decide what you want to get out of your honeymoon and, more specifically, what you want out of your honeymoon package. If all you want is to fly and flop somewhere tropical, you might like the Caribbean, the South Pacific or Indonesia. If you'd prefer a destination that marries gorgeous scenery with adrenaline-pumping activities, try New Zealand, Iceland or Australia. And for something a bit closer to home (which also means saving pennies!), consider a US-based honeymoon in Florida or Alaska. Of course, one factor when making a decision will be the pandemic. When planning a honeymoon during COVID-19, we encourage all couples to check restrictions and guidelines for your chosen honeymoon destination before booking any honeymoon package.

Central America, Caribbean and Mexico Honeymoon Packages

Central America and the Caribbean have just about everything for outdoor-loving honeymooners. From trails covering lush jungles to beachside retreats, there are chic, eco-luxe options everywhere. The best time to honeymoon is from December to April—those are the months with the least amount of rain. The white sand beaches and azure waters of the Caribbean and Mexico are markers of a quintessential honeymoon location. But, if you're after more of a jungle vibe, consider honeymooning in Costa Rica instead.

Copal Tree Lodge a Muy'Ono Resort Belize

Where? Copal Tree Lodge, a Muy'Ono Resort.

A destination for food lovers, bird-watchers, fly-fishers and adventure seekers, Copal Tree Lodge is a 16-room luxury eco-resort, restaurant and spa. There are two different honeymoon packages available and both include champagne on arrival, a romantic candlelit dinner and all-inclusive farm-to-table dining.

Coco Plum Island Resort Belize

Where? Coco Plum Island Resort.

A honeymoon package that includes a private cabana, all meals (plus one romantic candlelit dinner), local alcoholic drinks and water sport activities? Yes, please. This is what you'll get with a stay at Coco Plum Island Resort in Belize. The resort is set on its very own island, so you're guaranteed to find a patch of white sand and turquoise water to call your own. When you're not listening to the sound of lapping waves as you laze in your private hammock, you'll probably be making the most of the included activities like snorkeling Belize's Barrier Reef, zip-lining above a rainforest and exploring the Xunantunich Mayan Ruins.

Costa Rica

La Paloma Lodge Costa Rica resort

Where? La Paloma Lodge.

This property is exactly what you dream about when envisioning a Costa Rican honeymoon—with some luxury thrown in for good measure. The lodge sits atop a cliff, perched above the Pacific Ocean in Drake Bay, where jungle-immersed rooms are fit with air-conditioners and stunning interiors, along with a large balcony, hammock and plenty of monkey sightings. Opt for the Romance package when booking your stay for a bottle of wine or sparkling wine, chocolates and flowers on arrival and a couples massage.

Rancho Pacifico Costa Rica resort

Where? Rancho Pacifico.

With a slew of accolades—including being named the Best Small Hotel in Costa Rica by TripAdvisor for 2021—Rancho Pacifico is a smart choice for a honeymoon in Central America. The honeymoon package invites newlyweds to stay six nights in one of its modern suites, with all meals included (as well as a private starlit dinner), a 60-minute couples massage and an adventure activity of your choice, from zip-lining to river rafting or horseback riding. The suites here are world-class. Sitting high above the canopy, the floor-to-ceiling windows boast dramatic views of the ocean, best seen from your private terrace or deep-soak tub.

Viceroy Riviera Maya Mexico resort

Where? Viceroy Riviera Maya.

The Viceroy Riviera Maya is a relaxing, all-villa hideaway situated in a stunning location that marries lush jungle with the pretty white sand beaches of the Caribbean. It's a magnet for honeymooners, and this all-inclusive getaway package includes a stay in a private villa with your own private plunge pool, all meals and house beverages (including some cocktails!), complimentary organic soap, a private outdoor shower terrace and 15% off spa treatments.

Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit Mexico resort

Where? Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit.

Set along the golden sand beaches of Mexico's west coast, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit is an all-inclusive resort perfect for the discerning honeymooner. The Puerto Vallarta resort has a myriad of pools, a spa and its own stretch of golden sand beach where you can watch the sky turn pink as the sun sets. For maximum romance, book a stay in the resort's wellness suite. The two-story suite has a private terrace with a jacuzzi, massage beds and uninterrupted views across the Pacific Ocean. Bliss.

Saint Lucia

Jade Mountain Saint Lucia

Where? Jade Mountain.

There are honeymooners galore at Jade Mountain, but you likely won't see them. Here, most guests don't leave the rooms—or rather their palatial three-walled, open-concept suites that surround an enormous plunge pool, all of which overlook the dramatic Piton peaks and sparkling Caribbean Sea. Luckily, room service is terrific and efficient. The Total Romance offer is a honeymoon package where luxury meets adventure. Expect guided volcano tours, scuba diving lessons, jungle biking, a half-day yacht trip and a Swedish massage.

Europe Honeymoon Packages

For those who enjoy a dose of culture, fine dining and relaxing beaches, Europe is chock-full of choices for the honeymooner. Paris, dubbed the City of Love, is pretty much the perfect backdrop for a romantic honeymoon—just imagine snuggling in a cozy bistro by day and walking under the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower by night. If you're after a beachy break instead, you can't beat the azure waters and iconic whitewashed houses of Greece. For the adventurous couple, Iceland should be at the top of your list—the magnificent glaciers and northern lights feel otherworldly.

Hôtel Plaza Athénée Paris

Where? Hôtel Plaza Athénée.

Since 1913, the Hôtel Plaza Athénée has been the poster child for all things luxury and the epitome of Parisian chic. Here, rooms come dressed in rich silks, damask, rare woods and velvet—many with unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower. Naturally, at a hotel so fine and in a city so well known for food, it's fitting that chef Alain Ducasse would oversee all of the hotel's food and beverage operations. The Romantic Offer package comes with a bottle of champagne and chocolates upon arrival, American breakfast for two, and access to the sauna and hammam in the Dior Spa.

Carpe Diem hotel Santorini

Where? Carpe Diem.

Santorini is known for its marvelous pink-hued sunsets—but you don't need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with crowds in Oia in order to witness them. Those in the know head to the hilltop town of Pyrgos instead, where the exclusive Carpe Diem hotel takes in the island's best views (and you'll have front row seats to that iconic sunset right from your private plunge pool). Breakfast is included and it's extensive—you can request lobster benedict with a glass of champagne if you let the kitchen know in advance.

Abaton Island Resort & Spa Crete

Where? Abaton Island Resort & Spa.

While most flock to the Cyclades when they head to Greece, why not stray from the crowd and visit the country's largest island instead? Abaton Island Resort & Spa is a quick 20-minute transfer from Crete's airport and its honeymoon suite—with a private pool, jacuzzi and sea views—is primed for a relaxing stay. Dinner and breakfast are included with the hotel's half-board option.

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland

Where? The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland.

Opt for the Romantic Getaway for two in-water massages, champagne and strawberries on arrival, Michelin-rated dining and unlimited use of the Retreat Spa and the Retreat's private section of the Blue Lagoon.

Deplar Farm Iceland

Where? Deplar Farm.

A stay at Deplar Farm, tucked away on Iceland's remote Troll Peninsula, is an all-inclusive honeymoon that's equal parts luxury and adventure. All of your meals are included and there are a number of activities to choose from too. The activities included differ by season, but you can opt to go whale watching or horseback riding all year round, while heli-skiing and northern light-spotting is best reserved for the cooler months.

South Pacific, Australia and New Zealand Honeymoon Packages

The South Pacific contains some of the best honeymoon destinations, including Fiji and Tahiti. It's made up of clusters of intimate resorts, small peaceful villages and miles of quiet pristine beaches where honeymooners can post up in some seriously dreamy digs. Head to the likes of Fiji or French Polynesia for overwater bungalows, or to New Zealand and Australia for a honeymoon immersed in nature. The best time to travel to Fiji and French Polynesia is during the high season months of June to September, but New Zealand and Australia are best visited between December and March to catch the warm weather.

qualia resort australia

Where? qualia.

Known as one of the world's best resorts, you can't go wrong with a stay at Australia's qualia hotel. Sitting on 30 acres of native gardens, the hotel can be found on the northernmost tip of Hamilton Island and is the perfect base to explore the Great Barrier Reef. For your honeymoon, may we suggest the Heart Island Adventure package? This includes a four-night stay, a helicopter tour over the Great Barrier Reef and landing on Heart Island's helipad to spend some time snorkeling around the reef. Talk about a memory-maker.

Longitude 131 Australia Uluru hotel

Where? Longitude 131˚.

For an all-inclusive honeymoon package that's as adventurous as it is scenic, opt for a stay at Longitude 131˚. Here, you can stay in one of the luxury tented domes or pavilion, each with bucket-list views of Australia's famed Uluru. Honeymooners should pick the Classic Uluru package for spa treatment credits and a guided walk to Uluru's base on top of your meals and drinks.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort Fiji

Where? Likuliku Lagoon Resort.

No trip to Fiji is complete without a stay in one of its overwater bungalows (or as they say in Fiji, bures). Likuliku Lagoon Resort's Celebration package is ideal for honeymoons as it includes an hour-long couples massage and a bottle of sparkling wine when you book a five-night stay. The room price includes all meals, bottled water and use of non-motorized water sports—but you'll likely spend most of your time here diving off your private deck into the crystalline waters, which are that dreamy!

Yasawa Island Resort & Spa Fiji

Where? Yasawa Island Resort & Spa.

Located in the sunniest and driest part of Fiji, Yasawa Island Resort & Spa is the only resort on Yasawa Island—which means guests here have 10 private beaches all to themselves. The all-inclusive resort boasts just 18 luxury bure suites and the honeymoon bure is hidden at the end of a deserted white beach with a horizon pool. The price includes half-day trips to the famed Blue Lagoon Caves as well as guided snorkeling trips.

French Polynesia

The Brando resort French Polynesia

Where? The Brando.

On the Tetiaroa atoll, you can find this presidential-approved (Barack Obama is a known fan) resort. The Brando sits on a cluster of islands purchased by Marlon Brando and is accessible only by private plane. There's a big emphasis on sustainability here—the eco-friendly spa is powered by coconut oil and solar energy. The all-inclusive package includes all meals (even room service), daily minibar replenishment, one excursion per day, bikes to use and a 50-minute spa treatment for one person per room, per day.

Le Taha'a by Pearl Resorts French Polynesia

Where? Le Taha'a by Pearl Resorts.

With the island of Taha'a on one side, Bora Bora on the other and crystal-clear Tahitian waters all around, a stay in one of this resort's overwater bungalows is the perfect romantic honeymoon spot. You can choose a half-board package here—we recommend the spa offer for daily breakfast and one traditional Taurumi Polynesian massage per person.

New Zealand

Huka Lodge New Zealand

Where? Huka Lodge.

After a luxury honeymoon package? Look no further. Huka Lodge, nestled near the banks of the Waikato River in New Zealand's North Island, has just 20 guest suites (so you're bound to get some much-wanted privacy). The honeymoon package includes two nights, an hour-long couples spa treatment, flowers and chocolates on arrival, five-course evening meals in a private dining location as well as a full country breakfast.

Hapuku Lodge and Treehouses New Zealand

Where? Hapuku Lodge + Treehouses.

Plonked above a deer farm in the South Island of New Zealand, Hapuku Lodge sits snugly at the foot of the Kaikoura Seaward Mountain Range. A stay in one of its treehouses is such a unique honeymoon idea. Each treehouse has large windows that look across the canopy—best seen while relaxing in one of the deep-soak tubs. The honeymoon package includes three nights in one of the treehouses, a bottle of French champagne, organic chocolate, a three-course dinner each night (with a five-course, wine-paired dinner one night!) and a massage for each of the newlyweds. Sign us up.

South and Southeast Asia Honeymoon Packages

These regions provide the perfect combination of beauty, beaches and culture all in one romantic getaway. It's here that you'll find overwater bungalows galore (we're looking at you, Maldives). These bungalows are often perched above pristine waters, where honeymooners laze the day away on their daybed and take dips in the ocean via their private deck. But the Maldives aren't the only honeymoon-ready offering. For couples looking for luxury on a budget, it has to be the Indonesian island of Bali. Or, for those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, a stay among the lush rainforests of Sri Lanka makes for an Insta-ready honeymoon.

Jimbaran Puri Bali hotel

Where? Jimbaran Puri, a Belmond Hotel.

Surrounded by the lush vegetation and talcum-soft beaches of Bali's Jimbaran Beach, this Belmond property boasts traditional elegance—Bali style. Think: rooms with rich teak woods, high-beamed thatched roofing, gauzy white bedding and luxe marble floors. Pool cottage suites are perfect for couples on their honeymoon and come equipped with a private horizon-edge pool. There are several packages to choose from here that would work for your honeymoon, from a package supporting local conservation efforts to one that allows you to dine with a member of the Balinese royal family (yes, really!).

Alila Villas Uluwatu Bali honeymoon resort

Where? Alila Villas Uluwatu.

Imagine this: You arrive at your honeymoon destination and you're whisked away to your hotel, only to discover that you've left your normal life behind and entered a world that's pure luxury. At Alila Villas Uluwatu, the all-inclusive package will treat you to a daily breakfast, three-course lunch and three-course dinner, an in-room couples spa treatment, afternoon tea and a car for local sightseeing. To make the most of the resort's glorious clifftop position, book a stay in one of the cliff edge villas which come with their own infinity pool.

If you prefer your bungalow to come with its own private plunge pool, you're looking in the right place. At Huvafen Fushi Maldives, it feels as if it's just you, your new spouse and the fish (you'll see them via the glass floor in the Ocean Bungalow rooms). Honeymooners love the underwater spa, and a 60-minute treatment comes included in the resort's Romance package, which also includes a bottle of champagne and chocolate-dipped fruits on arrival, daily breakfast (and one floating breakfast), a private four-course candlelit dinner and complimentary snorkeling equipment.

Overlooking the famous Demodara Loop, Nine Skies is a laid-back all-inclusive hotel just outside of pretty Ella. With thoughtful decor (think: hand-picked antiques mixed with modern finds), Nine Skies is a calming sanctuary to contrast your action-packed Sri Lanka honeymoon. The hotel is all-inclusive with a hearty breakfast, local curries for lunch and fresh dinners. As Sri Lanka is only a two-hour flight from the Maldives, why not combine the two countries for an unforgettable honeymoon?

Flanking the Indian Ocean and bordering Yala National Park, each of the 14 thatched-roof cabins has its own private pool where you'll enjoy complete privacy. There are several all-inclusive packages on offer here, with meals included as well as select wine, beers and spirits. Some packages also include a wildlife safari, where you can see leopards, crocodiles and flying snakes in the national park or blue and humpback whales and dolphins in the nearby Great and Little Basses reefs.

USA Honeymoon Packages

Honeymooning stateside can be totally romantic. Be it a northern lights camp, a lush resort or a private island hotel, there are loads of options and vast lands to explore in the United States. Florida, a beach-lover's favorite, offers oceanside cottages that feel as if you've been transported to the South Pacific. And of course, there's Hawaii: a cluster of islands that's practically synonymous with jet-setting honeymoons—complete with fragrant floral leis, tropical mai tais and hula dancing. Those who want more of an active, outdoorsy honeymoon should look north to Alaska for breathtakingly beautiful scenery.

Stillpoint Lodge Alaska honeymoon resort

Where? Stillpoint Lodge.

At the foot of Kachemak Bay State Park, get lost in the remarkable Alaskan wilderness with a stay at Stillpoint Lodge. There are several packages to choose from here—we like the look of the Adventure package or the Nature & Nurture package for your honeymoon. Each package includes organic meals, one spa treatment per person and various activities like brown bear watching and guided eco-tours.

Borealis Basecamp Alaska honeymoon resort

Where? Borealis Basecamp.

Just 25 miles from Fairbanks, Alaska, Borealis Basecamp sits on 100 acres of boreal forest—but the real draw here is its clear-topped domes where honeymooners can watch the northern lights dance above them while snuggled up in bed. There are various autumn and winter packages available and, depending on which one you choose, activities such as an Alaskan dog sledding tour and meeting reindeer.

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa Florida honeymoon resort

Where? Little Palm Island Resort & Spa.

This honeymoon resort may be located in Little Torch Key, Florida, but it feels more like the South Pacific. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, this oasis is plopped on a 5.5-acre private reserve and allows no more than 60 guests at one time. Here, thatched-roof private bungalows come equipped with private verandas, outdoor showers and beds draped in gauzy butterfly netting—but they're void of phones and television. The Culinary Paradise package will delight foodies with its welcome bottle of champagne, daily breakfast, three-course lunch, four-course dinner and $100 spa credit per person, per day.

Hotel Wailea hawaii honeymoon

Where? Hotel Wailea.

With its lush green surroundings and adults-only lodging, it's no surprise that this is one of the most romantic hotels. If you want to go all out on your Hawaii honeymoon package, may we suggest the resort's Return to Paradise offer? This includes round-trip private jet flights, seven nights in the resort's most luxurious suite, a seven-course dinner with wine pairings, an all-you-can-drink rosé afternoon, a luxury yacht trip and a two-hour couple's massage (and that's not even all of it!).
