Capricorn Best Love Match: Your Capricorn Compatibility Guide
If you're a Capricorn looking for a partner you feel totally in sync with, you might want to take their zodiac sign into consideration—it can clue you into key personality traits and even indicate how good of a match you may be together. A Capricorn's best love match is someone who understands the value of hard work, knows how to bring out their playful and fun side and isn't afraid of commitment.
While astrology isn't the only way to tell if your relationship is going to work in the long-term, a person's zodiac sign can help you learn more about their strengths and weaknesses, as well as what they're looking for in a soulmate. And even if two signs aren't supposed to be a good match, it's still entirely possible to have a healthy relationship—knowing more about their sign may actually help you figure out how to work together. We spoke to expert astrologers to find out more about Capricorn compatibility.

Capricorn Personality and Traits
The last earth sign in the zodiac, Capricorns are known for being ambitious, determined, hard workers who go after what they want. "Capricorns are responsible, disciplined, loyal, hardworking and grounded," says astrologer Tara Jade Nichols. "They are willing to do whatever it takes to build a successful life."
With their reputation for being overly serious and mature for their age, it's easy to assume that Capricorns don't know how to let go and just have fun. But keep in mind that this sign is symbolized by the sea goat, a mythological creature with the body of a goat and the tail of a fish. This is a symbol of their ability to be natural leaders who can also be in touch with their emotional side, explains Mak Jagger, intuitive consultant, tarot reader, astrologer and secular spiritual counselor.
Capricorns are ruled by Saturn, a planet often associated with tasks, rules and time. This is why Nichols says this sign can also be known as "Father Time, Lord Karma, The Lesson Bringer and The Teacher." This is a sign that doesn't like to waste time, isn't afraid to take the lead and tries to be good at everything.
Capricorn in Relationships
It should come as no surprise that, when it comes to romance, Capricorns generally aren't looking for a quick fling. "If a Capricorn is going to invest the precious resource of their time in someone, they are looking to be in a relationship for the long haul," Jagger explains. Nichols adds that they "desire long-term committed partnerships more than any other sign," noting that they seek a "strong, unshakeable foundation in their relationship" with someone they could see themselves building a family with.
"Capricorn is seeking a mate who is grounded, mature, level-headed and provides stability," Nichols continues. They want someone who can understand their ambition. "Capricorns are likely looking for a goal-driven partner who operates with integrity in terms of doing what they say they are going to do," Jagger says. That said, they still want to have a good time with their partner, as Jagger notes, they also tend to look for someone with a sense of humor who can laugh at themselves.
Winning a Capricorn's heart isn't an easy task. Nichols notes that they tend to "put a wall up around their heart," but once you do, they are fully capable of being romantic, sentimental and emotionally available.
Capricorn Relationship Compatibility
A Capricorn's best zodiac match is a sign that is similarly motivated and dedicated but can also bring out their more emotional side. As a partner, they "will be the rock for their spouse," Nichols says, noting that they are dependable and loyal. While their communication style can be a little dry and honest, they will open up once they feel comfortable—some signs are able to do this better than others. When it comes down to it, though, any sign can break a Capricorn's serious shell if they understand them.

Capricorn and Aries
Capricorn and Aries are both cardinal signs ("they are the first occurring signs in their respective seasons, spring and winter," Jagger explains) and both tend to be natural-born leaders. The difference is that Capricorn is more on the mature and wise side, while Aries is more on the bold and playful side. Because of that, Jagger warns that these signs can "romantically clash due to both parties possessing a strong desire to be in the lead." In other words, there may be some unspoken competition over who is the "boss" in the relationship.
However, that doesn't mean things are doomed. "They may connect on a shared sense of twisted humor and could even possess a mutual desire to be in a power couple," Jagger says. If they're able to allow each other to both be leaders, these two could definitely come together as an impressive match with shared determination.
Capricorn and Taurus
A Taurus is a good zodiac match for a Capricorn because they are both grounded earth signs that share similar morals and values. Jagger explains that their position in the zodiac helps make them a good match: Capricorn is a Saturn-ruled cardinal sign (the first sign of the winter), while Taurus is a Venus-ruled sign of the spring (which means it comes up in the middle of the spring season). "This is a naturally compatible pairing, as fixed signs like Taurus have the ability to bring a dedicated stamina to the bright ideas cardinal signs like Capricorn can come up with," she says.
One of their biggest differences is that a Taurus has a taste for the finer things in life and likes to enjoy themselves—they are ruled by pleasure-loving Venus—while Capricorn tends to be a bit more serious and ambitious. "In a Capricorn rising chart, Taurus is on the cusp of the 5th house of flirtation, sexuality, dating and romance," Jagger continues. "They are likely to have an instant attraction, but may have to put in work to make the relationship sustainable long term past the honeymoon phase."
Capricorn and Gemini
A Capricorn and Gemini getting together is a good example of opposites attracting. Gemini is ruled by Mercury, causing them to be outgoing, social and all over the place. Meanwhile, rule-abiding Saturn keeps Capricorn on a more straight and narrow path full of the types of routines Geminis often pay no attention to. "Capricorn is focused on attaining success while Gemini seeks to socialize," Nichols says. "These two have a very different approach to life's purpose."
Geminis tend to be more fun, flirty and talkative, jumping into passionate relationships, while Capricorns are more likely to take things slow to build a real connection. While this can be a hard hump to get over, it just requires both people to try to understand each other more. And at the end of the day, they can be a positive influence on each other. "Gemini could help Capricorn to lighten up by reminding them to have more fun," Nichols says, while Capricorn can help ground a Gemini.
Capricorn and Cancer
Cancer is the sign opposite of Capricorn in the zodiac, according to Jagger, who says this indicates the possibility of strong chemistry between the two signs. "Both are cardinal signs that usher in their respective seasons, summer for Cancer and winter for Capricorn," she continues. "They are both passionate forces of nature in their own right, and it's possible they could sometimes butt heads as a result."
Both Capricorns and Cancers tend to be into long-term, committed partnerships, which helps give them the potential to last. But while Capricorns tend to be stoic and take a long time to open up, Cancers are very emotional and sentimental and might demand more vulnerability than a Capricorn can give. At the same time, this can benefit them. "Cancer could benefit from Capricorn's Saturnian stability and structure," Jagger says. "Capricorns could benefit from having their quiet emotional intelligence engaged by Cancer's inherent intuitive sensitivities."
Capricorn and Leo
Leo is a bold fire sign with all the confidence in the world and a tendency to move fast, while Capricorns are more slow, steady and geared towards self-doubt. They're similarly ambitious—Nichols notes that both are true leaders of the zodiac—but that could cause them to butt heads. "Leo tends to have a fiery disposition, which causes them to react dramatically," Nichols says. "Capricorn believes that Leo's behavior is childish and silly."
That said, if these two are able to move past those differences, they could be another power couple. "They would likely have to learn to lean into each other's strengths in order to share their success," Nichols says.
Capricorn and Virgo
As two stable earth signs, Jagger says that Capricorn and Virgo have "an essential elemental compatibility" with each other. "Virgo is a Mercury-ruled mutable sign of summer, which means it comes around at the end of the season," she explains. "Capricorn is ruled by Saturn and may feel a bit rigid compared to Virgo's more go-with-the-flow, mercurial tendencies."
Being ruled by Mercury, the communication planet, means that Virgos are analytical and want to talk about every little detail. Meanwhile, Saturn keeps Capricorn more repressed and quiet when it comes to their feelings. This can present a problem, but Virgo may also be able to help Capricorn open up. "The steady, disciplined work ethic of some Capricorns might really impress a service-oriented Virgo and help them bring a grounded, stable attitude to their otherwise hyper-critical worldview," Jagger says.
Capricorn and Libra
Capricorns and Libras are very different. Libras are social and flirty, always the life of the party, while Capricorns are more quiet and reserved. While Libras aren't afraid of a little splurge for something they love, Capricorns tend to be savers. "In terms of compatibility, on the surface, Capricorns and Libras seem like oil and water," Jagger says.
It can be tough for these two signs to come together in a happy relationship, but it's not impossible. "The secret is maintaining the harmonious balance that Libras bring to a dynamic with the structure and security that Capricorns can provide," Jagger says. In other words, they each bring something different to the table, and they need to learn how to work together to make each other better.
Capricorn and Scorpio
When it comes to Capricorn romantic compatibility, both Capricorn and Scorpio can be a little on the mysterious side, taking some time to open up to each other. Still, Nichols says they "have the potential to be a power couple." Both are leaders who like to have control and know how to go after what they want, just in slightly different ways. "Scorpio's razor-sharp focus along with Capricorn's ambition is a recipe for prosperity," Nichols says, adding that they have a lot of respect for each other.
Scorpio will generally admire a Capricorn for their passion when it comes to going after their goals, while a Capricorn is fully aware that a Scorpio is able to see right through them. If they can overcome both of their tendencies towards secrecy, Scorpio can be a best match for Capricorn.
Capricorn and Sagittarius
While a Sagittarius tends to be more whimsical and creative, a Capricorn has a detailed plan and more stable ambition. "They come from different backgrounds completely, which on one hand makes them curious about the other, but they don't understand each other at all," Nichols says. "They are everything the other is not."
A Sagittarius is energetic, opinionated and bold, while a Capricorn is more conservative when it comes to voicing their opinions and emotions. To make things work, a Capricorn could serve as a grounding voice of reason for a Sagittarius, while a Sag can help coax a Capricorn into trying new things.
Capricorn and Capricorn
It shouldn't come as a big surprise that two Capricorns are basically made for each other. "They are in it for the long haul, each doing whatever it takes to keep the relationship together," Nichols says. "This couple is hard-headed, yet not afraid to commit to do the work for a lasting relationship."
Two Capricorns have like-minded goals when it comes to their careers, families and relationship values. In this Capricorn best match, both partners appreciate commitment, tradition and working hard, making them pretty in sync all the time. "They don't shy away from the responsibilities that come along with owning a home or saying 'I do,' in fact, they welcome these commitments," Nichols says.
Capricorn and Aquarius
Capricorn and Aquarius are very different: Capricorn is the rule-following hard worker who loves a routine, while Aquarius is a rule breaker who tends to be more innovative with the urge to do things their way. "Both signs answer to the sky's most paternalistic planet, jokingly referred to as 'Daddy Saturn,'" Jagger says. "Capricorn energy frequently manifests as a more conservative, traditional Saturnian influence, whereas Aquarius frequently manifests as a more progressive, technologically advanced form of Saturn."
Still, she says these two can still find romantic compatibility in their "shared mutual discipline and ability to see a plan through." They'll just have to accept that they may have different ways of pursuing their ambitions. Jagger notes, "Capricorns might need to let some of their more traditional values get updated by Aquarian ideals, and Aquarians could stand to be a bit less contrarian when it comes to classic, tried and true approaches to structure."
Capricorn and Pisces
Capricorn and Pisces are the definition of opposites attract, according to Nichols. "Capricorn wants to see their goals manifest in the material world, while Pisces is the dreamer with their head in the clouds," she explains. "Yet somehow they balance one another into a harmonious relationship."
Capricorn can help ground Pisces, introduce them to routine and keep them stable. A Pisces can help bring out a Capricorn's more emotional side and encourage them to be more creative. All in all, they are able to work well together on all things.
