Whether a situationship turned relationship or a long-standing marriage, using "how well do you know me" questions can be a real conversation starter for emotional intimacy, to align your goals and of course, to have a bit of fun.

"Couples who understand how each other think, process information, and who know and understand their partner's true vision for life and of life tend to have better relationships, closer bonds with one another, and solve problems together easier," says Karen Stewart, PsyD, a sex and relationship therapist who recently got married (and used The Knot to plan her special day). "They're used to having deep, thoughtful interaction with each other without the threat of judgment."

Through Stewart's practice, she recommends that couples at any stage create 15–20 questions to ask your partner and use them to further get to know each other on long car rides, walks or even on your weekly date idea.

"No questions should be off-limits," Stewart explains. "However, if your partner is uncomfortable answering your questions, that is also information and a good conversation to have around their discomfort of the topic."

"People have very different listening styles, comprehension levels, and frankly, some people forget more than others," Stewart says. "If your partner makes a mistake on something about you that is relatively innocent, for instance, if they think your favorite color is blue and it's actually green, let it go."
