Couples are getting so creative with ways to remember their wedding day and its attendees and many choose a Polaroid wedding guest book to commemorate the occasion. By collecting just a few items ahead of time and providing your friends and family with a little guidance, you can have a photo album full of memories and love notes waiting for you when you come back from your honeymoon.

To help make this happen, we spoke with wedding planner Angela Olinick of Plan and Simple Affairs in Sunbury, Pennsylvania, to get all the tips and tricks needed for figuring out how to do a Polaroid wedding guest book at your reception. She shared, "In truth, I always suggest this type of guest book because couples not only get the memory that each individual writes, but they have a photo memory to go with it." Along with her insight, we have numerous options for instant-film guest books, although many other types of wedding guest books would work for this too.

How to Arrange a Polaroid Camera Station for Your Guest Book

Olinick used her wedding expertise to walk us through exactly how to set up your Polaroid camera and guest book station to ensure a smooth and successful event.

  1. Olinick says, "First, decide what Polaroid camera to use, then purchase enough film to cover each adult guest twice. Often, guests don't use the camera correctly and they will need an extra to try again." In addition, you'll need to purchase a guest book, photo corners, photo or washi tape, pens, a Polaroid wedding guest book sign, a photo booth backdrop and props. If in doubt when you're ordering camera film, it's always better to have more than not enough.

  2. Olinick instructs couples to put the photo guest book station in a visible area with the backdrop and props. Then, set up the guest book signs to clearly explain the process to guests, from taking the pictures and waiting for them to develop to taping them in and leaving a note for the newlyweds. If possible, hire someone to help guests learn how to use Polaroid cameras if many are unfamiliar with them and encourage them to sign a note alongside the picture.

  3. Ask your wedding party to go first! Have them set the example for guests by snapping a few photos near the start of the reception and putting them in the book.

  4. Olinick shares that it is essential to have your DJ or host give a short announcement with Polaroid wedding guest book instructions to ensure everyone has had a chance to get involved once the reception is underway.
