Known as "The Helper" of the Enneagram system, those who relate to the Enneagram 2 personality type have so much to love to offer. Matches with Enneagram 2 compatibility are lucky indeed!

Many use the Enneagram system, a popular typology with nine different personality types, to better understand their own or their partner's strengths, motivations and core needs—and how to best navigate their intimate relationships and find lasting, fulfilling love. (If you still don't know what your Enneagram is, Truity's free Enneagram test is one of the most popular in the US and is even psychologist-reviewed. You can take it here.)

To learn more about how the Enneagram type 2 is in love (including Enneagram 2 traits, their preferred communication style, Enneagram 2 compatibility and more), scroll on.

In this article:

Enneagram 2 Traits & Personality

Enneagram 2s make great partners and friends. They're warm, compassionate and loving, while also being generous with their time and energy. Sometimes known to be people pleasers, Enneagram 2s radiate kindness and thrive in social settings, but may have difficulty establishing and maintaining boundaries at times.

They also tend to be sensitive and take little things to heart. They have big feelings, after all, and feel deeply for those around them.

Enneagram 2 Communication Style

Enneagram 2s thrive on connection, so communication is atop their list of priorities. Unsurprisingly, they do prefer to receive feedback that continues to feed their friendly demeanor.

When conflicts arise, they might not always be as transparent as you'd like as they tend to protect their feelings and avoid hurting others at the same time. Instead of addressing problems head-on, they may push them off until they lead to more difficult challenges or unhealthy habits down the road.

When it comes to communicating with an Enneagram 2, open and honest conversations while keeping in mind their sensitive nature (think: choosing your words carefully) will yield the most positive results.

What Does an Enneagram Type 2 Want in a Relationship?

When it comes to relationships, Enneagram 2s want to feel loved and make their partner feel loved, too. They are the helper, the fixer and are a soft place to land for their lover. Enneagram 2s are extremely supportive and will always show up for their partner, be it in tangible or intangible ways.

They make great listeners, but can definitely work on expressing their own feelings and needs, and might need encouragement to speak up out of their comfort zones. Yes, Enneagram 2s love to pour love and energy into others, especially their partners—but ironically, they might need to work on loving themselves in order to be the most effective communicators.

Enneagram 2 in the Bedroom

Intimacy is important to Enneagram 2s, but it can be difficult for them to understand that true intimacy is a two-way street: Eager to please their partners, they're super in tune with their partner's physical needs and often open-minded when it comes to trying new things in the bedroom. However, they might need the occasional reminder that they don't always have to be the "giver," especially when it comes to sex and intimacy. They should have their needs, wants and desires met, too.

The Most Compatible Enneagrams for Type 2

So who are Enneagram 2s most compatible with? Here are the Enneagram types that might light their spark. Of course, this doesn't mean you can't have a great relationship outside of these pairings. The matches below are just popularly thought to be compatible due to the traits typically associated with the Enneagram types.

Enneagram 2 and Enneagram 9

Enneagram 2s and 9s make quite the dynamic duo. These relationships are all about balance, with 2s fostering a peaceful, supportive connection and 9s thriving in calmness and going with the flow.

Both 2s and 9s like to steer clear of conflict, so it's important to work on clear and consistent communication. But overwhelmingly, a partnership between these two is a match made in heaven.

Enneagram 2 and Enneagram 8

When it comes to love, Enneagram Type 2 and Enneagram Type 8 are prime examples of how opposites indeed attract. While 2s love to go with the flow, 8s are assertive and organized. Together, they balance one another out and tend to bring out the best in each other.

Enneagram 2 and Enneagram 4

Enneagram Type 2 and Enneagram Type 4 both love to love. They're givers, emotionally in tune and thrive on connection. Relationships between 2s and 4s will be full of lots of "thinking of yous" texts and romantic gestures. What could be better?
