Let's be real here: Shopping for a plus-size wedding dress is hard enough as it is. Finding bridal shops for plus sizes? That can feel even harder. Not to mention that bridal sizing is around two to three times larger than your street size. It can be so discouraging to go into a shop just to find out that they don't even offer samples in your size. That's why I took it upon myself to do some of the legwork for you and find some of the best bridal shops for plus sizes in the US, from Florida to California. Go ahead and consider your search for "plus-size bridal shops near me" officially over. Ahead, we've rounded up a list of boutiques that take plus-size wedding dresses seriously and provide an abundance of options on the racks, making sure the entire experience is more inclusive to all. Period.

Erica Brilliant Trunk, who has owned Solutions Bridal Designer House in Orlando for six years, is helping pave the way for inclusive sizing in boutiques. We tapped Trunk for advice on how plus-size brides can prepare for their dress shopping experience, as she hopes to "replace any anxiety around shopping for wedding dresses with the excitement every bride deserves when shopping for their wedding day look."

How to Find Plus-Size Bridal Shops Near Me

One of the easiest and most effective ways to find wedding vendors, including curvy bridal boutiques near you, is through a quick search on The Knot Vendor Marketplace. Simply select "Bridal Salons" from the category dropdown menu and fill in your city and state, then filter the results by selecting "Plus Size Available" under the "Fashion Services" menu. You can then filter by distance, dress type and even award winners. Once you pick out some faves, you can start making appointments at each—right here on The Knot.

They aim to make every bride feel fab in a welcoming environment that celebrates who they are, and that includes all of their gowns being made-to-measure. "Since a bespoke pattern is created for each individual bride, customizations are endless as well, giving Limitless brides the couture dress of their dreams."

    Plus-Size Wedding Dress Shopping Tips

Now you know where to shop for a wedding dress, but what about the how? Take a peek at these expert-approved shopping tips before you head to your bridal appointment.

    1. Bridal sizing is very different from street sizing

Wedding dress sizes can be confusing and often overwhelming, with bridal sizes running about two to three sizes larger compared to your regular street clothing. "Even though the average dress size for women in the US is 16, many designer size charts end between a 20 and a 24," says Trunk. "Since every size chart is different, a street size 16 can equate to between a bridal size 18 and 22, depending on the designer, meaning that their "plus size" really only serves what would be considered the average American woman." To avoid any surprises, we recommend checking your plus-size wedding boutique's website or giving them a call to find out more about their size ranges.

    2. Do some research before your appointment

Before you call the salon to make your bridal appointment (how exciting!), you might want to take to the internet first. "Do your research on stores to determine which ones make you excited to shop with them," says Trunk. "Pay attention to their social feeds and their website: are plus size people featured regularly? Do their reviews speak favorably about their plus size collection? Don't be afraid to call and talk to someone about your concerns and to ask how many dresses are sampled in plus sizes and what those sample sizes are. It's not uncommon for a store to state they carry plus-size dresses, and the collection consists of a handful of dresses up to a size 20."

    3. Don't settle for limiting options

Trunk's biggest piece of advice for curvy brides? Don't settle. "If you aren't in love with a dress, don't choose it because you feel like your options are limited," she says. "Consider traveling to stores that you know have a vast selection and options for customizations that can help you create the perfect wedding day look that you simply can't wait to walk down the aisle in."
