How to Have a Star Wars Wedding

As the Star Wars universe keeps expanding, there are seemingly countless angles a couple can work to bring a galactic party to life, from an outdoor ceremony that gives Endor vibes to recreating the stunning Chandrilan wedding of Mon Mothma's daughter, Leida Mothma, to Davo Sculdun's son, Stekan Sculdun. While it can be tempting to go all-in on this most epic of wedding themes, Gray encourages couples to remember that "Lucasfilm had a multi-billion dollar budget, but you probably do not. The goal is not to literally party inside the Millennium Falcon (although, yes, that would be amazing); it is to transport your guests just enough to feel like they have stepped into an alternate universe."

To get the feel of another galaxy, she recommends nearlyweds "focus on subtle, high-impact nods: Think themed stationery suites, a cake design with galactic flourishes, a photo booth with lightsabers and starry backdrops, or even live entertainment that references the score. Layer those details into the experience without overwhelming the wedding itself." Incorporating Star Wars songs, like "The Imperial March" or person-specific anthems like "Princess Leia's Theme," is an easy way to give a nod to the beloved universe without having to stretch a budget.

Ideal Star Wars Wedding Locations

"When thinking of a Star Wars wedding," Gray says, "you do not need to hunt down the Death Star, but you do want a space that feels cinematic. Industrial venues, warehouses or unique architectural spaces are a great canvas because they echo that otherworldly galactic vibe without you needing to recreate a movie set." Couples can look for venues like this on The Knot Vendor Marketplace and use filters like "industrial and warehouse" and "museum" to find spots that would help transport guests to a planet like Coruscant.

Overall, Gray shares that "the trick is to find a venue with strong bones and atmosphere so your Star Wars details feel intentional, not like they are floating in the wrong galaxy." If you're having trouble finding an indoor space to reflect the series, consider outdoor wedding venues that would mimic some of the famous planets of Star Wars, such as Tatooine, Endor or Dantooine.

Star Wars Wedding Invitations

While many couples choose to go all-out on a custom invitation, complete with their names in the classic Star Wars font, there are many more subtle and budget-friendly options for those hoping to give a gentle nod to the beloved series. Gray shares how "invitations are a great place to set the tone. Imagine foil-stamped galaxies or typography that nods to the opening crawl without being a direct replica."

Gray shares how she "loves the idea of moody lighting, metallics and texture. Lighting can completely change the mood and feeling of a room, so lean in!
