When it comes to approaching how to thank your vendor team for your wedding, your glam squad is likely at the top of your list. So, when it's time to send out your wedding thank-you notes, a thank-you note to your wedding hairstylist is a must. Your hairstylist takes on the (very) important responsibility of ensuring your wedding-day mane is stunning and that it stays put from the ceremony to reception—that's no easy task.

Of course, it's always a helpful gesture to wax poetic about their skills on their The Knot vendor page, Yelp or website to let other engaged folks know that they can trust them with their wedding-day 'dos, but you may also wish to express your gratitude with a private thank-you note, card or email. Read ahead for tips, examples and thank-you message sample wording to help you express your appreciation to your wedding hairstylist.

Wedding Hairstylist Thank-You Note Etiquette

While you can choose to deliver your thank-you note to your hairstylist on the day of your wedding—either with a tip, gift or the remainder of the payment—waiting until after the reception to reflect and mention specific moments and aspects of their work that stood out might make more sense. We suggest sending your thank-you note no later than three to four weeks after the wedding, just so their time with you is fresh in their mind. (Though, while traditional thank-you note etiquette says three months is the deadline, a thank-you note is never too overdue to make an impact.) If the hairstylist tackled both you and your partner's tresses, be sure to sign the note from the both of you. If they only styled your locks, then it's totally fine to write and sign it from you alone.

Your hairstylist is there to help you look and feel your best on your big day, but they're also present for the getting-ready process when nerves are at their peak, so your glam team's demeanor, professionalism and ability to get along with your wedding party are important areas to mention in your thank-you note. More on what to write below.

Wedding Hairstylist Thank-You Note Prompts

Aside from the basic thank-you messaging, your hairstylist will appreciate specific mentions of things about their work that really stood out to you, whether that be securing your hairdo with the right product to help it stay put throughout a dance-heavy reception or offering calming words based on their own experiences at weddings that helped ease your nerves before walking down the aisle. The more specific you can be, the better—this adds sincerity, but also provides helpful feedback. If your hairstylist also styled your wedding party, feel free to pepper in compliments from them as well. Not sure where to start? Read on below for some sample prompts to help you with how to say "thank you" to your wedding hairstylist.

  • Thank them for taking the time to look at your ginormous Pinterest board.
  • Mention how appreciative you were of their flexibility: Did you change your inspiration images at the last minute or add a bridesmaid to their list?
  • If you felt their presence was helpful with prenuptial jitters, consider calling out how their calming words or demeanor helped soothe your nerves before walking down the aisle.
  • Mention specific compliments you received on your hair look. For example: "My now mother-in-law was so impressed with how natural-looking my curls were that she gave your contact info to all of her friends."
  • Compliment your hairstylist's ability to make your hair look last through heat, dancing, weather elements, a long reception, etc.
  • Did your hairstylist help you finesse the look you were going for when you weren't sure? Thank them for their guidance and offering their suggestions.
  • If your hairstylist stayed around after the ceremony for touch-ups, thank them for being diligent and keeping an eye out for stray hairs and fallen curls.
  • If you had a makeup artist, consider mentioning how well your hairstylist worked in unison with the MUA. For example, if you were going for a 1960s-inspired look overall, compliment them for tag-teaming to make sure the retro effect came out seamlessly.
  • Was there a moment of crisis or a major time crunch that they handled swiftly without compromising your wedding-day 'do?
  • If you had a practice run with your hairstylist and your wedding-day look came out the same (or to your liking), consider complimenting their memory and attention to detail.

Example 1

Dear [Hairstylist's name],

As someone who is super picky about my hair on any given day—let alone my wedding day—I could not wait to express my gratitude to you for making my bridal hairstyle turn out perfectly. I had a massive Pinterest board full of inspiration that was far from cohesive and, with your expertise and guidance, we were able to figure out exactly what I wanted. Honestly, I could not be happier with the way it moved, photographed and held up through the heat, emotions and wild reception!

I am not sure what products and tools you used, but those, along with your skilled hands were nothing short of hair wizardry! I will not only cherish how beautiful my tresses looked in my wedding-day photos forever, but I will probably spend the rest of eternity trying to recreate my wedding hairstyle. My [partner, spouse, husband, wife] was also impressed by how beautiful my hair looked, while also feeling soft and touchable. They say that hair is 50% of your entire look and I am sure glad you were there to make mine perfect on the most important day of my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

All the best,

[Your name]

Example 2

Dear [Hairstylist's name],

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for not only giving me the wedding-day hair of my dreams, but also being an integral part of my wedding journey. From the initial consultation to the nerve-laden wedding day, your professionalism, calm demeanor and, of course, skillful hands were evident. Not only was I blown away by how you managed to style my hair exactly the same as my inspiration photo, but all of my bridesmaids were raving about how they hoped their hairstyles would last through the weekend because they loved them so much—and from what I hear, rarely is the entire wedding party pleased with their final look! Somehow, you managed to maintain your precision and attention to detail while working swiftly and even accommodating last-minute changes. The process of getting ready could have been majorly stressful, but your calmness and can-do attitude made me feel anxiety-free. Thank you so much for making me feel beautiful on my special day. I cannot wait to recommend your services to my friends when they begin planning their own weddings.

With love and gratitude,

Example 3

Dear [Hairstylist's name],

I can't thank you enough for the amazing job you did with my hair on my wedding day. I know my vision changed last minute compared to what we had discussed at the consultation, so I truly appreciate your flexibility. You worked so well with [MUA] to bring my entire bridal look together seamlessly, and I've never felt more beautiful!

Even though the weather wasn't on my side, and I was nervous about how the gorgeous curls would hold up, you went above and beyond to manage the frizz and flyaways—not just for the ceremony, but all throughout the reception as well. I received so many compliments, and I couldn't have been happier with how it turned out. You truly have a gift, and I'm so grateful for your professionalism and talent.

Warmest wishes,

[Your name]
