Meadow Brook Hall

If you say your vows on the grounds of Meadow Brook Hall at Oakland University in Rochester, you'll have a mansion as your backdrop. The brick wall–enclosed Pegasus Garden has a flagstone path, perfect to use as a ceremony aisle. Inside, check out the old world–style ballroom, great for an intimate ceremony or a small reception. The space fits up to 100 guests for dancing. (248) 364-6220, Oakland.edu/mbh

The Inn at St. John's

A great choice for a daytime wedding, The Inn at St. John's in Plymouth has an atrium that lets in plenty of natural light. If you're planning to have a Catholic ceremony, take advantage of the on-site chapel. Choose a package and The Inn will take care of all the catering—including the late-night snacks. Psst…here's another plus: They'll throw in a free room for you and your groom! (734) 414-0600, StJohnsGC.com

Detroit Athletic Club

After your site–catered reception at the Detroit Athletic Club in Detroit, show your guests the coolest after-party they'll ever go to—in the venue's bowling alley! But okay, back to your wedding: Have your cocktail hour surrounded by classic artwork in the Reading Room; then head into the main dining room, where exposed-beam ceilings and chandeliers are the perfect balance of sophisticated and rustic. There's space for as many as 400 guests for a seated dinner. (313) 442-1069, TheDAC.com/public

Detroit Yacht Club

Have your ceremony overlooking the harbor at the Detroit Yacht Club in Detroit; then move into the ballroom, which has 42-foot-high ceilings, wood floors and a fireplace. It holds 350 guests for dinner and dancing. Photo tip: Pose on the veranda at sunset. (313) 824-2788, DYC.com

The Gem & Century Theatres and Century Grille

Get married on stage at either the Century or Gem Theatre. The Century holds 200 guests for a ceremony; the larger Gem Theatre can hold up to 450. For a small reception, the Century Grille can serve 100. Note: Outside caterers are allowed for cakes and kosher meals only. (313) 463-4215, GemTheatre.com

Castle Farms

Charlevoix's Castle Farms feels ripped from a fairy tale: The stone castle has courtyards and an indoor chapel that fits up to 350 guests for a ceremony. Explore some more, and you'll find five elegant rooms where you can host your reception. If you've got your heart set on an al fresco party, have it beneath the Queen's Royal Tent. Pick from the venue's preferred caterers list. (231) 237-0884, CastleFarms.com

The Dearborn Inn, A Marriott Hotel

Built in 1931, The Dearborn Inn in Dearborn has all the charming details of a historic American inn. Walk down the paved aisle and exchange vows at the gazebo. Then head indoors for the reception. Choose one of the three ballrooms, like the Alexandria, which fits 220 beneath its cathedral ceilings, for a reception catered by the inn. (313) 271-3899, DearbornInn Weddings.com

The Townsend

At The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, start the party in the Townsend Ballroom Foyer, which has marble floors and cherry-wood paneling. Then move as many as 320 guests into the traditionally elegant Townsend Ballroom for dinner. Planning a smaller reception? The ballroom can be divided into four individual salons. You'll love the huge floor-to-ceiling windows in Salon I. (248) 642-7900, TownsendHotel.com

Amway Grand Plaza Hotel

Make an entrance on the grand staircase in the Imperial Ballroom at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, which seats 160. For large groups, there's the vintage-style Pantlind Ballroom or the modern Ambassador Ballroom. Use the hotel's caterer. (616) 776-6400, AmwayGrand.com

Royal Park Hotel

The two-story glass conservatory at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester holds up to 200 guests for a ceremony and 90 for a reception. It's also a terrific spot for the cocktail hour (or even your rehearsal dinner). Chandeliers hang from 15-foot-high ceilings in the much larger Royal Grand Ballroom. Invite all your cousins, because the classic space can hold up to 700 seated guests. They'll eat well too, thanks to the hotel's catering staff. (248) 652-2600, RoyalParkHotel.net
